By November 2025, you may not need to visit Aadhaar centres for changing address and other details such as phone number, name, and date of birth, according to a recent report by the Times of India (TOI). The visit to Aadhaar centres will be required only for updating biometric data.

The report said that Aadhaar centre visit for updating address and other details will not be required as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is going to implement a new protocol that will fetch details from various databases such as PAN, PDS, passport, driving licence, MNREGA, birth certificate, matriculation certificate etc.

The report further said there are talks underway to also fetch details from the electricity bill database, which will make life easier for citizens.

The report also said that soon, Aadhaar users will not need to provide photocopies of Aadhaar anywhere. Instead, they will be able to share an electronic full or masked Aadhaar using a new app based on QR Code.

Why are these changes required?

When will you need to visit an Aadhaar centre?

Aadhaar users will need to visit Aadhaar centres only to provide fingerprints and IRIS. They will be able to do everything else related to Aadhaar from their homes, according to the report that quoted UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar as saying.
