Delhi Lakshmi Yojana to be rolled out in August 2026: Check key features and who will benefit

The Delhi Government has renamed its flagship scheme Mahila Samriddhi Yojana as Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. The decision was taken in a high-level review meeting chaired by Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, according to a post by the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on X.

The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana marks another significant step towards strengthening the dignity, security and economic self-reliance of women, CMO added.

The scheme will be launched around Rakshabandhan next month.

What is the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?

Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is the new welfare scheme proposed by the Delhi government for women. According to the CMO, Delhi, eligible women between 21-60 years of age will receive ₹2,500 per month.

The objective of the scheme is to provide every eligible woman with a reliable foundation of financial security.

Eligibility criteria

According to PTI, to be eligible for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, you should meet the following criterias:

Neither the eligible woman nor her family should have any criminal record Within a family, only the eldest eligible woman will qualify for the scheme, and only one woman per family will be given the financial aid. To be eligible for the pay out, the family's annual income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. In addition, women who are already receiving benefits under any government pension scheme or other regular welfare schemes will also not qualify for the scheme.

Who will benefit under Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?

The government estimates that the scheme will benefit lakhs of women across the capital.
