Big relief for pensioners: EPFO and IPPB launch free doorstep digital life certificate service

In a move to make life easier for pensioners, especially those living in remote and rural areas, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has approved a partnership with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).

Under this service, EPS'95 pensioners will be able to submit their life certificates from the comfort of their homes using IPPB’s wide network of postal staff and technology. This eliminates the need for elderly pensioners to travel to bank branches or EPFO offices.

• Pensioners no longer need to leave their homes to submit their life certificate.

• This is especially beneficial for those living in remote and rural areas.

• Timely submission of the life certificate ensures uninterrupted pension disbursement.

• Integration with the Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS) ensures more accurate record-keeping and service delivery.

The timeline for submitting the annual Life Certificate depends on the pensioner's age. Super Senior Citizens, aged 80 and above, can start submitting their Life Certificate from October 1 each year. All other pensioners, below the age of 80, must wait until November 1 to begin submission. However, for all pensioners, regardless of age, the final deadline to submit the certificate is November 30.
