Who is eligible for Jeevan Pramaan?

  • Only pensioners whose Pension Sanctioning Authority (PSA) is onboarded on the Jeevan Pramaan platform are eligible.

  • Remarried or re-employed pensioners are not eligible for this service.

  • The list of onboarded PSAs can be found under the 'Circulars' tab on the Jeevan Pramaan portal

What remarried or re-employed pensioners must do

Since the digital method is blocked, they must submit their Life Certificate by using the old method:
  • Obtain the physical Life Certificate form from your bank or PDA.

  • Personally present yourself and the completed forms before an authorised officer (e.g., a bank manager, a notary, or a gazetted officer) for signature and verification.

  • Submit the physically attested documents to your bank or Pension Disbursing Authority.

In India, there are around fifty lakh pensioners under the Central Government and a similar number under State and UT Governments, along with those from public sector enterprises. Additionally, over twenty-five lakh Army and Defence personnel receive pensions.

A crucial requirement for pensioners after retirement is the submission of a Life Certificate to authorised Pension Disbursing Agencies such as banks and post offices, following which their pension is credited.

Life certificates can be submitted online or offline. Online methods allow pensioners to submit their Life Certificates digitally from home using apps or biometric verification. Offline methods involve physical submission through bank branches, post offices, or doorstep services.

The Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners scheme, known as Jeevan Pramaan, digitises the entire process of obtaining a life certificate, making it simpler, faster, and more convenient for pensioners.   With this initiative, pensioners no longer need to appear physically before the pension disbursing agency or the certifying authority, eliminating logistical hassles and providing significant ease and relief to retirees.
The Government has set November 30 as the deadline for pensioners to submit their Life Certificate. Pensioners who fail to submit their life certificate by this date may face delays in the credit of their monthly pension.
