The Eighth Central Pay Commission has invited applications for the engagement of consultants on a contractual basis.
The Commission will also handle analysis of salaries, pay structures, allowances, pensions, review of existing emolument structures, legal research related to service matters, coordination with ministries for data collection, and assistance in specialized HR/compensation studies including gratuity and bonus mechanisms.
Analysis of salary structures, allowances, and pension systems.
Review of existing emolument structures.
Collection and analysis of data from reports, surveys, and government databases.
Legal research on service-related matters.
Coordination with ministries and departments for data collection.
Assistance in HR and compensation-related studies.
Review of gratuity and bonus mechanisms.
Preparation of reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
Estimation of fiscal impact of proposed changes.
Assistance in analysis of memorandums and representations.
Applicants must fill in the prescribed proforma available on the Commission’s website and submit their details through the designated form.
Once submitted, a unique application or Memo ID will be generated, which will be required for further processing and appointment requests.
The Commission has clearly stated that no physical copies or email submissions will be accepted under this recruitment process.
No separate acknowledgment will be issued for applications.
Email will be the sole mode of communication with selected candidates.
Candidates must respond to offer of engagement within 7 days, and joining must be completed within 30 days from the date of offer email. Immediate joiners will be preferred.
The recruitment process is open-ended, meaning applications will continue until all required consultant positions are filled.
Selection will be carried out by a committee of senior officers of the Commission through scrutiny of applications and/or interaction.
The Commission reserves the right to select or reject candidates without assigning any reason.
All decisions of the selection committee will be final and binding.

Master’s degree / MBA in Finance, HR, Industrial Relations or related fields or
LL.B. with Bar Council enrollment and experience in service-related legal matters
Strong proficiency in Excel/spreadsheets.
Ability to prepare reports and presentations.
Preference for candidates with experience in pay commission, compensation, or establishment matters
The engagement will be purely contractual.
Initial appointment will be for one year or until the tenure of the Commission, whichever is earlier. Extension will depend on performance and requirement.
Senior Consultant: ₹1,80,000 (Full-time)
Consultant: ₹1,20,000 (Full-time)
Young Professional: ₹90,000 (Full-time)
Part-time engagement options are also available (12 days / 6 days per month with proportionate fixed pay).
According to recent updates, the Commission is conducting meetings with key stakeholders in Delhi and other locations as part of its pre-recommendation consultation exercise. These discussions are aimed at gathering inputs on salary structures, pension systems, and service conditions across departments.
As per reports, defence and railway unions are expected to engage with the Commission in scheduled meetings in May 2026, with discussions focusing on pay revision demands, fitment factor expectations, and service reforms.
Employee bodies have also been actively submitting memorandums highlighting key demands such as revised pay matrices, pension reforms, and improved promotional structures.
