The Department of Financial Services (DFS), under the Ministry of Finance, has launched the Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima for beneficiaries of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). The scheme offers cashless services, modern treatments and access to a wide hospital network.

“The Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima has been launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, today for CGHS beneficiaries. It offers cashless facilities, modern treatments and access to a wide network of hospitals,” the Ministry of Finance said in a release on Wednesday, January 14. 

Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima: 5 things to know

  • The policy is only for CGHS beneficiaries with a maximum of six members per policy.

  • It provides indemnity-based inpatient hospitalisation coverage across India.

  • The policy offers sum insured options of ₹10 lakh or ₹20 lakh.

  • Beneficiaries can choose between 70:30 or 50:50 co-sharing options between insurance companies and the subscribers.

  • There will be no GST on the policy, making it affordable for the beneficiaries.

Key features of the policy

Here are the key features of the policy:

  • Room rent is capped at 1% and 2% of the total sum insured per day for normal room and ICU, respectively.

  • The policy offers pre-hospitalisation coverage for 30 days and post-hospitalisation coverage for 60 days.

  • AYUSH treatments are covered up to 100% of the sum insured for in-patient hospitalisation.

  • Modern treatments are covered up to 25% of the sum insured. There is also an optional rider for 100% coverage.

  • Subscribers will receive a bonus of 10% for every claim-free year, which can be increased to a maximum of 100% of the sum insured.

  • The policy will be available at a discount of 28% under the 70:30 split and 42% under the 50:50 split, when compared to a regular policy.

The policy is aimed at offering a seamless experience with enhanced access to quality healthcare services across India, and ensuring additional financial security for CGHS subscribers. 

“Designed to complement existing benefits, this enhanced policy will provide a seamless experience, with greater flexibility and expanded access to quality healthcare services across India, thus leading to additional financial security with ease and confidence for all CGHS beneficiaries,” the release said.

The policy will be available for purchase through the New India Assurance Company Limited’s offices and online platform soon, the Ministry said in the release.
