How to lodge a deceased claim with SBI

Bank deposits: Claimants can submit the deceased claim at any SBI branch of their choice and will receive an acknowledgement.

**Safe deposit lockers: **Claims must be submitted at the SBI branch where the locker was originally hired.

Mode of submission

Claims can be filed either by visiting the branch or through the online SBI portal.

Simplified procedure introduced by SBI

SBI has introduced simplified procedures to make claim settlement easier, particularly when the nomination is not registered:
Bank deposits: Settlement of deceased accounts up to ₹15 lakh can be done without requiring a surety.
Safe deposit lockers: Settlement of deceased locker claims can also be completed without surety under the simplified procedure.

This ensures faster processing for smaller claims, reducing delays for families.
