Gold rates in Pune on November 4; indicative, before making charges and GST

Dhanteras falls on Friday, November 6, and Diwali on Sunday, November 8. The Dhanteras puja muhurat in Pune is reportedly from from 6:32 pm to 8:31 pm, which is when many families plan the purchase.

The city's gold rate is ₹15 per 10 grams below Delhi's for 24 karat. Wednesday's session added ₹270 per 10 grams to 24 karat and ₹250 to 22 karat, trimming part of the 3.51% loss suffered on October 31. Gold remains about ₹12,000 per 10 grams below October's peak.

Pune's buyers skew towards lighter, everyday jewellery, which makes 18 and 22 karat the volume grades in most showrooms. The 24 karat is largely confined to coins and gifting.

An 18 karat chain costs roughly ₹2,500 less per 10 grams than 22 karat, but the lower gold content also means lower resale value, so the saving is not free.

Please note the above rates are indicative and actual cost can differ at a specific store. So buyers should compare rates at several jewellers on their own. The final bill will also be higher than the karat-based price because making charges and 3% GST are added.

Making charges deserve the same scrutiny as the rate, since two stores on the same street can differ by five percentage points on an identical design. Buyers should also checl that every piece carries a BIS hallmark with a HUID.
