US stock markets open mixed on Wednesday; Dow Jones climbs 200 pts, NASDAQ and S&P 500 trade flat

The US stock market opened in the green with modest gains. The US treasury yields cooled off from recent highs on Wednesday, giving a breather for investors. Similarly, the crude oil prices cooled off on Wednesday despite continued hostilities in the Middle East. The Dow Jones opened over 200 points or 0.4% higher. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ 100 hovered around flat lines.

The crude oil prices traded 1% lower after gaining more than 15% in six trading sessions. The Brent crude oil prices fell 1% lower on Wednesday after hitting $97 per barrel mark in the intraday trading session. Similarly, the WTI crude oil prices too cooled off from intraday highs of $92 per barrel mark.

Meanwhile, the ADP private jobs showed the economy added 38,000 jobs in August, below the estimates of 47,000, signalling weakness in the labour market.

On the stock-specific front, the shares of laptop and server maker Dell Technologies jumped 6% higher on Wednesday after the company posted record revenue and upped its guidance for FY27.The company posted 58% YoY jump in the revenue for the quarter ended June 2026 at $47 billion. The earning per share soared 273% at $6.3 per share.

Jeff Clarke, CEO of Dell Technologies said, “With AI momentum accelerating and our opportunity expanding across the portfolio, we're raising our full-year FY27 revenue outlook by $25 billion to $192 billion, up nearly 70% YoY” in the earnings report.

Meanwhile, shares of Nvidia, Meta Platforms, Netflix, PayPal Holdings were amongst the top gainers on Wednesday, rising as much as 3%.

On the other hand, shares of other technology players like Marvell Inc, Palantir and Seagate dropped as much as 8.7% despite beating its earning estimates in the latest quarterly earnings report.
