Equity benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY plunged more than 1% on Tuesday due to an across-the-board selloff amid massive foreign fund exodus from the capital markets and sluggish global equities. Extending its previous day's decline, the BSE SENSEX plummeted 930.55 points or 1.15% to settle at 80,220.72. The NSE NIFTY tumbled 309 points or 1.25% to 24,472.10.

    One97 Communications, the parent of Paytm, on Tuesday posted a net profit of ₹928.3 crore in the quarter ended September 2024, compared to ₹290.5 crore loss it incurred a year ago, as an exceptional gain from sale of entertainment ticketing business to Zomato improved the fintech firm's Q2 scorecard.

    The revenue from operations slumped 34.1% year on year to ₹1,659.5 crore during the just-concluded quarter.

    Billionaire Gautam Adani-led Adani Group on Tuesday said it will acquire CK Birla group firm Orient Cement at a valuation of ₹8,100 crore as part of its expansion drive.

    Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of Adani Cement and part of the diversified Adani Group, has signed a binding agreement for the acquisition of Orient Cement Ltd (OCL) at an equity value of ₹8,100 crore.
