UltraTech Cement on Wednesday, August 20, said its board of directors have given approval for the sale of 6.49% stake in The India Cements Ltd (ICEM).

The Aditya Birla-owned firm will sell up to 2.01 crore (or 2,01,12,330) equity shares in ICEM “by way of an offer for sale through the stock exchange mechanism”, UltraTech said in a regulatory filing.

“We wish to inform you that the Committee of Directors and Officers of UltraTech Cement Ltd (MPS Committee), at its meeting held today, i.e., 20th August 2025, has approved the sale of up to 2,01,12,330 equity shares of The India Cements Limited (ICEM), representing 6.49% of the issued and paid-up equity share capital of ICEM,” it said.

This comes a day after the leading cement maker held its annual general meeting (AGM).

UltraTech Cement June quarter results

The cement major’s consolidated net profit surged 49% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹2,226 crore in the first quarter of FY26, as against ₹1,494.8 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier.

UltraTech Cement’s revenue from operations grew 13% YoY to ₹21,275 crore during the reporting quarter, compared to ₹18,819 crore in Q1FY25.

At an operational level, the firm’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation), also known as operating profit, stood at ₹4,410 crore in the June quarter of FY26. In the same period of the previous fiscal year, its EBITDA was at ₹3,017 crore, marking a 46% YoY increase.

The company’s EBITDA margin grew to 20.7% during the quarter under review, compared to 16% in the June quarter of the previous fiscal year.

UltraTech Cement stock hits 52-week high

Shares of UltraTech Cement closed 0.07% higher at ₹12,872 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). They also hit a 52-week high of ₹12,930 per equity share during the day’s trade on Wednesday. However, the announcement came after the market had already closed.

The stock has gained 4.52% so far this week and 5.1% since the beginning of August. The scrip has advanced 6.46% so far in the second quarter of FY26 and 12.67% on a year-to-date basis.

The share reached a year’s low of ₹10,047.85 on February 28, 2025.

UltraTech Cement has a total market capitalisation of ₹3.79 lakh crore, as of August 20, 2025, as per data on the NSE.
