The Indian equity benchmarks fell for a fourth straight session on Wednesday, September 24, dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bharat Electronics. The SENSEX fell as much as 494 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 25,027. The SENSEX ended 386 points or 0.47% lower at 81,716 and NIFTY50 index declined 113 points to close at 25,057.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Tata Motors was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 2.62% to close at ₹683 on account of profit booking in auto stocks after sharp up move following cut in goods and services tax (GST) rates.

Bharat Electronics (-2.16%), Jio Financial Services (-2.02%), Adani Enterprises (-1.96%) and Wipro (-1.90%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Power Grid (1.68%), Hindustan Unilever (1.36%), NTPC (1.31%), Maruti Suzuki (0.98%) and JSW Steel (0.93%) were among gainers in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index dropped nearly 1% or 572 points to close at 57,924. As many as 77 shares in the index ended lower while 23 closed higher.

Adani Total Gas was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 7.95% to close at ₹665. The stock fell for second straight session on Wednesday.

Godrej Properties (-3.98%), PB Fintech (-3.91%), Kalyan Jewellers (-3.43%) and Bharat Forge (-3.12%) were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Premier Energies was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 3.01% to close at ₹1,042.85.

Jubilant Foodworks (2.39%), Waaree Energies (1.98%), Indian Bank (1.86%) and SBI Cards (1.11%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 0.67% or 122 points to close at 18,070. As many as 75 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended lower while 25 closed higher.

Zen Technologies was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 4.33% to close at ₹1,534. Redington (-3.87%), INOX Wind (-3.44%), PG Electroplast (-3.05%) and Sagility (-2.82%) were also among the laggards.

On the contrary, Himadri Specialty Chemicals (3.69%), Kaynes Technologies (2.98%), Credit Access Graameen (2.54%), Kajaria Ceramics (2.49%) and HBL Engineering (2.31%) were among gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
