Top gainers and losers on September 17: TCPL, State Bank of India, Bharat Electronics rise over 2.2%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks rose for second straight session on Wednesday, September 17, led by gains in index heavyweights like State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys, Bharat Electronics and Tata Consultancy Services. The SENSEX rose as much as 361 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 25,346. The SENSEX ended 313 points higher at 82,694 and NIFTY50 index advanced 91 points to close at 25,330.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

State Bank of India was among the top gainers in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 3.05% to close at ₹857 after the country's largest lender announced completion of the divestment of about 13.18% stake in Yes Bank to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation of Japan.

State Bank of India (SBI) has received ₹8,888.97 crore from the acquirer Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), a Japanese multinational financial services company belonging to the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG), the bank said in a regulatory filing.

Tata Consumer Products (3.99%), Bharat Electronics (2.21%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.45%) and Maruti Suzuki (1.28%) were also among the gainers.

On the flipside, HDFC Life (-1.08%), Bajaj Finserv (-0.98%), Titan (-0.91%), SBI Life (-0.87%) and Hindalco (-0.85%) were losers in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended on a flat note with a gain of 49 points at 58,849. As many 51 shares ended higher while 49 closed lower.

KPIT Tech was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 3.95% to close at ₹1,297.50. Bank of Maharashtra (3.83%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (3.77%), Cochin Shipyard (3.48%) and Kalyan Jewellers (2.94%) were also among the gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

On the other hand, Vodafone Idea (-1.89%), Supreme Industries (-1.85%), Aditya Birla Capital (-1.72%), NHPC (-1.72%) and Glenmark (-1.69%) were top laggards in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose 0.68% or 125 points to close at 18,423. As many as 58 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended higher while 42 closed lower.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 6.35% to close at ₹2,595 mirroring gains in other defence shares.

IFCI (5.22%), Zen Technologies (5%), Data Patterns (4.08%) and Affle India (3.88%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Welspun Corp (-1.92%), Godfrey Phillips (-1.70%), Devyani International (-1.62%), Hindustan Copper (-1.54%) and HFCL (-1.52%) were losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
