Top gainers and losers on September 1: Bajaj Auto, Mahindra gain 4%, Sun Pharma falls nearly 2%; check full list

SUMMARY

The NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge closed in the positive territory at 56,825.50, up 1,098.10 points or 1.97%. Meanwhile, the NIFTY Smallcap 100 ended 1.57% or 271.10 points higher at 17,498.10.

The Indian stock market indices, SENSEX and NIFTY, rebounded by nearly 555 points on value buying in IT, auto, and banking shares after three straight days of losses and strong macro data.

While SENSEX jumped 554.84 points or 0.70% to close at 80,364.49, NIFTY-50 surged 198.20 points or 0.81% to end at 24,625.05 on Monday, September 1.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY50 pack was bolstered by buying in auto stocks as many auto manufacturers released their August sales numbers.

The index was supported by Bajaj Auto, which surged 4.01% to close at ₹8,978 apiece, after reporting a 5% year-on-year (YoY) growth in total vehicle wholesales, including exports, at 417,616 units in August 2025.

It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra, which gained 3.52%, despite announcing a marginal YoY decline in its sales to 75,901 units.

Hero MotoCorp (3.18%), Eicher Motors (3.10%), and Tata Motors (3.09%) were among the top gainers.

On the flipside, Sun Pharmaceutical closed 1.91% lower at ₹1,564 apiece. ITC (-1.03%), Hindustan Unilever (-0.56%), Titan (-0.30%), and Cipla (-0.22%) were also among the top losers on Monday.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge closed in the positive territory at 56,825.50, up 1,098.10 points or 1.97%, propelled by gains in Ola Electric (16.50%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (7.67%), Tube Investments of India (6.36%), Dixon Technologies (5.60%), and MphasiS (4.73%).

On the flipside, Waare Energies (-5.97%), Vishal Mega Mart (-0.44%), Bharti Hexacom (-0.23%), Bandhan Bank (-0.22%), and Aurobindo Pharma (-0.18%) were the top laggards.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s smallcap index, NIFTY Smallcap 100, ended 1.57% or 271.10 points higher at 17,498.10. Its top winners include Kaynes Technology India (7.71%), RITES (6.51%), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (6.01%), Multi Commodity Exchange of India (5.53%), and Kfin Technologies (5.37%).

On the contrary, Godfrey Phillips India (-3.35%), Piramal Enterprises (-2.80%), Karur Vysya Bank (-2.01%), Brainbees Solutions (-1.41%), and Go Digit General Insurance (-1.31%) were among the top five losers.
