As many as 30 shares in the NIFTY50 basket ended lower while 20 closed higher.
The Indian equity benchmarks ended on a flat note on Friday, March 7. The NIFTY50 index gained for the third session in a row while the 30-share SENSEX snapped its two-day winning streak. The NIFTY50 index ended 7.80 points higher at 22,552,50 and SENSEX slipped 7.51 points to close at 74,332.58. In Friday's trading session, gains in Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors, Axis Bank and Nestle India were offset with losses in Infosys, Zomato, NTPC, ICICI Bank and HCL Technologies.
As many as 30 shares in the NIFTY50 basket ended lower while 20 closed higher. IndusInd Bank was top NIFTY50 loser, the stock fell 3.78% to close at ₹935. NTPC (-2.22%), Shriram Finance (-2.07%), Infosys (-1.80%), Bharat Petroleum (-1.72%) and HCL Technologies (-1.69%) were also among the losers.
On the flipside, Reliance Industries was top NIFTY50 gainer, the stock rose 3.04% to close at ₹1,246.40. Tata Motors (1.23%), Bharat Electronics (1.19%), Bajaj Auto (1.19%), Hindalco (1.17%) and HDFC Life (1.14%) were also among the top gainers in the NIFTY50 basket of shares.
As many as 4,114 stocks traded on the BSE on Friday. Out of this, 2,512 advanced and 1,468 stocks declined, while 134 scrips remained unchanged.
A total of 55 stocks hit their 52-week highs, while 77 stocks touched their one-year lows. Besides, 18 stocks hit their upper circuit limits, and 5 touched their lower circuit bands on Thursday.
India VIX, the volatility gauge, stood at 13.47 levels, declining 1.85%.

Seven of 13 major sector gauges compiled by the National Stock Exchange ended lower led by Nifty IT index's 0.85% fall. Nifty Realty, Healthcare, Pharma, Bank and Financial Services indices also fell between 0.2-1%.
On the other hand, Nifty Media index was top sectoral gainer, the index closed 1.83% higher. Nifty Metal and Oil & Gas indices also rose 0.43% and 0.55% higher respectively.
The stock ended 2.33% lower at ₹327.
The company has appointed Jabirmahendi Mohammedraza Aga as its new CFO with effect from March 7, 2025.
The company's revenue in constant currency terms rose 18.8%. In dollar terms, the company earned revenue of $372 million.
During the quarter, Hexaware added one customer in the $100 million-plus category and four customers in the $20 million-plus category. In the calendar year 2024, Hexaware Technologies added 15 clients rather than 11 customers it added in 2023.
The stock ended 4.85% lower at ₹779.50.
“...RITES received a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for carrying out the final Location Survey for the high-speed elevated rail corridor between Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai,” the company had said in a regulatory filing on Thursday evening.
The stock ended 3.15% higher at ₹219.51.
