The Indian equity benchmarks gained for second straight session on Wednesday, July 30, led by gains in Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma, NTPC and Maruti Suzuki. The SENSEX rose as much as 281 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 24,902. The SENSEX ended 144 points higher 81,482 and NIFTY50 index advanced 34 points to 24,855.

The country's largest infrastructure developer post market hours on Tuesday reported net profit of ₹3,617 crore in the first quarter of current financial year (Q1FY26) marking an increase of 30% from ₹2,786 crore in the same period last year.
The Mumbai-based company's revenue from operations advanced 15% to ₹63,679 crore in Q1 from ₹55,120 crore in the year-ago period.
Larsen & Toubro reported stable operational performance as its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) also known as operating profit jumped 12.5% to ₹6,318 crore from ₹5,615 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Sun Pharma (1.51%), Tata Consumer Products (1.36%), NTPC (1.11%) and Maruti Suzuki (0.95%) were also among the gainers.
On the other hand, Tata Motors was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 3.52% on reports that the auto major is all set to buy Italian truck maker Iveco from its principal shareholder, the Agnelli family, for $4.5 billion. This deal will be the Tata Group’s second-largest acquisition after Corus and the largest ever for the automobile major, The Economic Times reported.
Hero MotoCorp (-1.95%), Power Grid (-1.06%), Bajaj Auto (-1%) and Cipla (-1%) were also among the gainers.
NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers
NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.07% or 43 points to close at 57,942. As many as 57 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended lower while 43 closed lower.
Bandhan Bank was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 3.14% to close at ₹173. Vodafone Idea (-2.78%), Indian Bank (-2.60%), Bharat Forge (-2.25%) and Son BLW Comstar (-1.98%) were also amon the losers.
On the flipside, APL Apollo Tubes was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 3.56% to close at ₹1,568.90.
KPIT Technologies rose 3.5% to close at ₹1,261 after it reported June quarter earnings.
Page Industries (2.33%), M&M Financial Services (2%) and PB Fintech (1.84%) were also among the gainers.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers
NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 0.52% or 95 points to close at 18,157. As many as 59 shares in the NIFITY Smallcap 100 index ended lower while 41 closed lower.
Redington India was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 7.83% to close at ₹265. Five-Star Business Finance (-6.06%), Zen Technologies (-5%), Reliance Power (-5%) and Welspun Living (-3.64%) were also among the losers.
On the contrary, Godfrey Philips (4.89%), Amber Enterprises (3.07%), Nuvama (2.91%), Natco Pharma (2.65%) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (2.52%) were among the gainers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
