Top gainers and losers on July 25: Cipla shares surge 4%, Bajaj Finance falls 5%; check full list

Benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in the red for the second day in a row on Friday, July 25, due to heavy selling in financial, IT, and oil and gas shares amid persistent foreign fund outflows.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹2,133.69 crore on Thursday, according to exchange data. However, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought stocks worth ₹2,617.14 crore.

The SENSEX tanked 721.08 points or 0.88% to settle at over a month's low of 81,463.09. The 50-share NIFTY dropped 225.10 points or 0.90% to a month's low of 24,837.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The 50-share NIFTY index was dragged down by Bajaj Finance, which fell 4.81%. It was followed by Shriram Finance (-3.64%), IndusInd Bank (-2.64%), Bajaj Auto (-2.58%) and Tech Mahindra (-2.53%), which were among the top losers on Friday.

On the flip side, Cipla shares surged 3.17% after reporting a 10% YoY increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹1,298 crore for Q1FY26, as against ₹1,178 crore for the year-ago period. Its revenue from operations was at ₹6,957 crore during the quarter under review, jumping 4% YoY from ₹6,694 crore in Q1FY25.

Other top gainers included SBI Life Insurance (2.07%), Apollo Hospital (1.50%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (0.91%) and Sun Pharmaceutical (0.59%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s midcap gauge, the NIFTY Midcap 100, fell as much as 951.25 points, or 1.61%, to 58,009.45 on Friday.

The index was weighed down by APL Apollo Tubes, which closed 8.09% lower. It was followed by Bharat Heavy Electricals (-4.38%), Sona BLW Precision Forgings (-4.24%), Steel Authority of India (4.24%) and Aditya Birla Capital (4%), which were among the top laggards.

On the contrary, the stock of Phoenix Mill soared 4.9%. The top gainers included Supreme Industries (1.7%), Lupin (1.17%), Max Healthcare Institute (1.15%) and Coforge (1.10%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 settled at 18,294.45, down 2.1% on July 25. It was pulled down by selling in Swan Energy (-7.16%), Hindustan Copper (-6.25%), KFin Technologies (-5.73%), Reliance Power (-5%), and Zen Technologies (-5%).

On the other hand, IEX (9.43%), Anant Raj (1.96%), Shyam Metalics and Energy (1.81%), Atul (0.55%) and Narayana Hrudayalaya (0.47%) were among the top gainers.
