Top gainers and losers on July 2: Shriram Finance, HDFC Life, IndusInd Bank fall over 2.5%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on Wednesday, July 2, dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank and ICICI Bank. The SENSEX fell as much as 546 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 25,378.75. The SENSEX ended 288 points lower at 83,410 and NIFTY50 index dropped 88 points to close at 25,453.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Shriram Finance was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 2.85% to close at ₹676.60. HDFC Life (-2.57%), IndusInd Bank (-2.54%), Bajaj Finserv (-2.18%) and Larsen & Toubro (-1.99%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Tata Steel was top gainer in the NIFITY50 basket of shares, the stock rose 3.68% to close at ₹165.95. JSW Steel (2.78%), Asian Paints (2.4%), Ultratech Cement (1.64%) and Maruti Suzuki (1.39%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index slipped 0.14% or 83 points to close at 59,667. As many as 59 shares in the index ended lower while 41 closed higher.

Suzlon was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 3.35% to close at ₹65. Tube Investments (-3.21%), The Phoenix Mills (-3.07%), Waaree Energies (-2.97%) and HUDCO (-2.95%) were among the losers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

On the other hand, Tata Communications shares surged 4.76% to close at ₹1,808 after Macquarie said that company’s return on invested capital (ROIC) dropped from an average of 16% during FY21–FY23 to around 11% in FY25 due to recent acquisitions in its digital portfolio, Moneycontrol reported.

Apollo Tyres (4.52%), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (4.35%), Mankind Pharma (4.29%) and SAIL (3.42%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 0.41% or 79 points to close at 18,977. A total of 65 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended lower while 35 closed higher.

Narayana Hrudayalaya was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 5.64% to close at ₹1,976. Redington India (-5.10%), NCC (-3.26%), Brigade Enterprises (-3.26%) and NBCC (-2.69%) were also among the laggards.

On the contrary, Sagility was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 6.82% to close at ₹44. RITES (5.72%), PG Electroplast (3.18%), Welspun Corp (2.95%) and Kaynes Technology India (2.60%) were also among the gainers.
