The Indian equity benchmarks fell for a fifth straight session on Friday, January 9, to fall to their lowest level in over two months as investor sentiment took a knock on the back of sustained foreign outflows and growing uncertainties regarding trade deal between Indian and United States.

In the last five sessions the SENSEX has dropped as much as 2,360 points or 2.75% to hit low of 83,402, its lowest level since October 16 and NIFTY50 index tumbled 705 points to 25,655, its lowest level since November 3.

The SENSEX ended 605 points lower at 83,576 and NIFTY50 index declined 194 points to close at 25,683.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Adani Enterprises was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 2.59% to close at ₹2,15660. NTPC (-2.29%), Adani Ports (2.1%), ICICI Bank (2.09%) and Jio Financial Services (-2.04%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Asian Paints (1.88%), ONGC (1.16%), HCL Technologies (0.94%), Bharat Electronics (0.55%) and Dr Reddy's Labs (0.5%) were top gainers in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index declined 0.8% or 474 points to close at 59,748. As many as 76 shares ended lower while 24 ended higher.

Godrej Properties was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock declined 4.92% to close at ₹1,992 mirroring losses in other real estate shares.

Hitachi Energy (-4.03%), Glenmark (-3.62%), 360One Wam (-3.32%) and Suzlon (-3.2%) were also among the laggards in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company (4.65%), Oil India (2.33%), Coromandel International (1.96%), Ashok Leyland (1.94%) and Coforge (1.92%) were top gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index dropped 1.81% or 318 points to close at 17,283. A total of 90 shares ended lower while 10 closed higher.

Manappuram Finance (-5.33%), Tejas Netoworks (-5.33%), Firstsource Solutions (-4.03%) and Radico Khaitan (-4.01%) were also among the laggards.

On the contrary, Star Health (1.64%), Signature Global (0.95%), KEC International (0.76%), IIFL (0.73%) and Hindustan Copper (0.48%) were among the notable gainers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
