The Indian equity benchmarks ended on a mixed note on Wednesday, February 11, as losses in Infosys, HDFC Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, ITC, HCL Technologies and Axis Bank were offset with gains in State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finance.
The SENSEX ended 40 points lower at 84,234 and NIFTY50 index advanced 19 points to close at 25,954.
Eicher Motors was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock advanced 6.45% to close at ₹7,766.50 it reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,421 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year, marking an increase of 21% from ₹1,170 crore in the same period last year. The company’s board also approved the capacity expansion plan.
The Delhi-based company's revenue from operations rose 23% to ₹6,114 crore in the October-December period from ₹4,973 crore in the year-ago period.
The company reported strong operational performance as its EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) jumped 30% to ₹1,557 crore from ₹1,201 crore. Its EBITDA margin improved by 130 basis points to 25.46%.
Apollo Hospitals gained 3.98% to close at ₹7,506 after it recorded a 34.91% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹502.3 crore in the October-December quarter of the current fiscal year, led by strong performances across three business verticals.
The hospital chain reported a profit after tax of ₹372.3 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Max Healthcare (3.33%), State Bank of India (3.23%) and Maruti Suzuki (1.89%) were also among the top gainers in the NIFTY50 index.
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services (-2.53%), Infosys (-1.79%), Coal India (-1.67%), HCL Technologies (-1.53%) and Tech Mahindra (-1.19%) were top losers in the NIFTY50 index.
NIFTY Midcap 100 index advanced 19 points or 0.03% to close at 60,755. As many as 49 shares ended higher while 51 closed lowed.
Supreme Industries was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 4% to close at ₹3,883. Astral (3.77%), Bharat Forge (3.54%), Fortis Healthcare (3.16%) and PB Fintech (3.06%) were also among the gainers.
On the flipside, BHEL (-5.54%), Premier Energies (-5.02%), Torrent Power (-3.94%), Swiggy (-3.67%) and M&M Financial Services (-3%) were top losers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended 3 points higher at 17,455. As many as 42 shares ended higher while 58 closed lower.
PCBL was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock jumped 8.15% to close at ₹317.80. Laurus Labs (4.95%), Kaynes Technologies (4.86%), Aster DM Healthcare (4.23%) and Jyoti CNC (4.14%) were also among the top gainers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
On the contrary, Nuvama Wealth Management (-5.2%), IFCI (-4.29%), MCX (-4.24%), Tejas Networks (-3.71%) and Newgen Software Technologies (-3.38%) were top laggards in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
