Top gainers and losers on December 3: Max Healthcare, Tata Consumer Products, Adani Enterprises fall over 2%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks declined for fourth straight session on Wednesday, December 3, dragged down by losses in State Bank of India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries and Bharti Airtel.

The SENSEX fell as much as 375 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 25,891. The benchmarks, however, staged recovery in last hour of trade on the back of buying in information technology shares after rupee dropped to an all-time low of 90.14 against the US dollar.

The SENSEX ended 31 points higher at 85,107 and NIFTY50 index declined 46 points to 25,986.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Max Healthcare was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock dropped 2.91% to close at ₹1,085. Tata Consumer Products (-2.25%), Adani Enterprises (-2.14%), Bharat Electronics (-2.03%) and Shriram Finance (-1.83%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Wipro (1.61%), Hindalco (1.46%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.41%), ICICI Bank (1.38%) and HDFC Bank (1.04%) were among the top gainers in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index dropped 0.98% or 595 points to close at 60,315.65. As many as 74 shares ended lower while 26 closed higher.

Indian Bank was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 5.52% to close at ₹812 mirroring losses in other PSU banking stocks after the Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said on Tuesday that the government was not considering any proposal to raise the foreign direct investment (FDI) limit in public sector banks to 49%, from the current 20%.

The FDI limit in PSBs and private sector banks is 20% and 74%, respectively. In the case of private sector banks, up to 49% of FDI is through the automatic route, and beyond 49% and up to 74%, the government route is applicable.

HUDCO (-4.51%), Hitachi Energy (-4.28%), Bank of India (-3.73%) and Motilal Oswal Financial Services (-3.31%) were also among the laggards.

On the other hand, Vodafone Idea was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 4.34% to close at ₹10.57 after reports suggested that the cabinet will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss AGR dues relief.

This week, the government said that it is awaiting a formal request from Vodafone Idea before moving ahead on any relief measures, adding that the Supreme Court judgement is recent and needs careful evaluation.

According to a CNBC-TV18 report, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “DoT is waiting for a formal request from Vodafone. The government will make a recommendation after evaluating Vodafone Idea’s proposal."

Biocon (2.88%), Ashok Leyland (1.56%), APL Apollo (1.31%) and Bharti Hexacom (1.25%) were also among gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index declined 0.71% or 127 points to close at 17,649. As many as 65 shares ended lower while 35 ended higher.

Wockhardt was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 5.48% to close at ₹1,412.90 on account of profit booking after two days of gains.

Angel One (-5.48%), Ola Electric (-5.02%), Poonawalla Fincorp (-2.97%) and Afcons (-2.81%) were also among the losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.

On the contrary, Triveni Turbine (3.92%), Himadri Specialty Chemicals (3.82%), Neuland Labs (3.53%), Devyani International (3.12%) and Narayana Hrudayalaya (2.33%) were top gainers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
