The Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on Wednesday, December 24, dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Sun Pharma, InterGlobe Aviation, Hindustan Unilever and Larsen & Toubro. The SENSEX fell as much as 183 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 26,123.

The SENSEX ended 116 points lower at 85,409 and NIFTY50 index declined 35 points to close at 26,142.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

IndiGo was top loser in the NIFTY50 basket of shares, the stock fell 1.55% to close at ₹5,077. Adani Enterprises (-1.37%), Dr Reddy's Labs (-1.28%), Wipro (-1.2%) and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (-1.1%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Trent (2.26%), Shriram Finance (1.69%), Apollo Hospitals (1.46%), Bajaj Auto (0.82%) and UltraTech Cement (0.79%) were top gainers in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index declined 0.6% or 365 points to close at 60,451. As many as 75 shares ended lower while 25 closed higher in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

Coforge was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock declined for second straight session an ended 2.43% lower at ₹1,737. BSE (-2.41%), Cummins India (-2.31%), Persistent Systems (-2.1%) and HDFC AMC (-1.82%) were also among the laggards

On the other hand, BDL (3.3%), NTPC Green (3.02%), Indus Towers (2.45%), NALCO (1.84%) and 360 One WAM (1.21%) were top gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index advanced 0.28% or 50 points to close at 17,708. As many 54 shares ended lower while 46 closed higher.

JBM Auto was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock surged 10% to close at ₹635.60.

Manappuram Finance rose advanced 7.11% to close at ₹315.75 after gold surged to record high. Hindustan Copper (6.66%), IIFL (5.28%) and Reliance Power (4.88%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Kajaria Ceramics (-4.06%), Navin Fluorine (-3.19%), Gland Pharma (-2.36%), Cyient (-2.29%) and IEX (-2.06%) were top losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
