The Indian equity benchmarks fell to three-month lows on Friday, August 8, after US President Donald Trump on Thursday ruled out advancing trade negotiations with India after Washington slapped steep tariffs on Indian goods, saying discussions would not move forward until the issue is resolved. The SENSEX fell as much as 847 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,337 dragged down by losses in Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra and Axis Bank.

The SENSEX ended 765 points or 0.95% lower at 79,857.79 and NIFTY50 index dropped 233 points or 0.95% to close at 24,363.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Bharti Airtel was among top losers in the NIFTY50 index, the stock dropped 3.3% to close at ₹1,859.50 ss promoter firm Indian Continent Investment Limited (ICIL) offloaded a 1.2% equity stake via a block deal.

IndusInd Bank (-3.3%), Adani Enterprises (-3.15%), Shriram Finance (-2.93%) and Tata Motors (-2.43%) were also among the laggards.

On the other hand, NTPC was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 1.59% to close at ₹335. Titan (1.49%), Dr Reddy's Labs (1.18%), HDFC Life (0.54%) and Bajaj Finserv (0.26%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 1.64% or 936 points to close at 56,002. As many as 94 shares in the index ended lower.

Kalyan Jewellers was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 10% after it reported June quarter earnings.

Biocon (-6.16%), Coforge (-5.70%), Mazagon Dock (-5.39%) and Dixon Technologies (-5.08%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, Bank of Maharashtra, Cummins India, Max Financial Services, HPLC, Bharti Hexacom and Indian Bank were among the notable gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index declined 1.49% or 264 points to close at 17,428. As many as 85 shares ended lower.

PG Electroplast was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 23% to close at ₹567 after the company sharply cut its revenue and profit growth guidance for current financial year.

The company sharply lowered its growth guidance for the current financial year. PG Electroplast expects revenue to be in range of ₹5,700–5,800 crore implying a growth of 17% to 19%, the company had earlier guided for revenue growth of 30%.

The company has also lowered its profit growth guidance to ₹ 300–310 crore, marking a growth of 3%–7% against its earlier guidance of 39%.

Titagarh Rail Systems (-6.14%), Ramco Cement (-5.96%), ITI (-5.71%) and Chambal Fertilisers (-5.69%) were also among the losers.

On the contrary, Kalpataru Projects was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 5.13% to close at ₹1,170.

IEX (3.43%), Mahanagar Gas (1.77%), Triveni Turbine (1.77%) and Neuland Labs (1.63%) were also among the gainers.
