Top gainers and losers on April 20: Trent, JSW Steel, State Bank of India shares gain over 2.2%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks ended on a flat note on Monday, April 20, as investor sentiment turned cautious after reports suggested that ceasefire between United States and Iran appeared in peril after the US said it had seized an Iranian cargo ship that tried to run its blockade and Tehran ‌vowed to retaliate, refusing for now to join new peace talks, Reuters reported. Following this development, SENSEX and NIFTY50 indices came off intraday highs while the fear index that is India VIX jumped 9%.

The SENSEX ended 27 points higher at 78,520 and NIFTY50 index advanced 11 points to close at 24,365.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Trent was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 3.1% to close at ₹4,235 after the company told exchanges that it will consider bonus issue of shares on April 22.

JSW Steel (2.8%), State Bank of India (2.2%), Asian Paints (1.87%) and NTPC (1.21%) were also among the top gainers in the NIFTY50 index.

On the flip side, Jio Financial Services (-2.98%), Hindalco (-2.49%), Tata Motors PV (-1.53%), Larsen & Toubro (-1.39%) and HDFC Life (-1.25%) were top losers in the NIFTY50 index.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.18% to close at 59,790.75. As many as 59 shares ended lower while 41 closed higher.

PI Industries was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 3.62% to settle at ₹3,026. SBI Cards (-3.02%), Godfrey Phillips (-3.02%), National Aluminium Company (-3.02%) and Adani Total Gas (-2.83%) were also among the laggards in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

On the other hand, Radico Khaitan was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 5.34% to close at ₹3,357. Tube Investments of India (3.36%), BHEL (2.59%), Hitachi Energy India (2.51%) and GE Vernova T&D India (2.44%) were also among top gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index declined 0.45% or 79 points to close at 17,486.90. A total of 73 shares ended lower while 26 closed higher.

GMDC was top laggard in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 6.36% to close at ₹690 on account of profit booking.

Cohance Lifesciences (-5.62%) Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (-5%), Ola Electric (-3.7%) and KEC International (-3.53%) were also among top laggards in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.

On the contrary, Triveni Turbine (9.52%), Jyoti CNC (4.91%), City Union Bank (4.72%), CESC (4.58%) and Ather Energy (4.35%) were top gainers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
