Top gainers and losers, Aug 7: Bajaj Finance falls 6%, Bajaj Finserv down 4%, Grasim rises 3%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in negative territory for the second straight session on Friday, August 7, amid a sell-off in financial services stocks. Furthermore, investor sentiment turned cautious, tracking a spike in crude prices in global markets.

During Friday’s trading session, the SENSEX fell as much as 0.73% to touch an intraday low of 78,377.07. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 declined as much as 0.46% to reach the session’s low of 24,522.75.

On August 7, the SENSEX declined by 455.59 points or 0.58% to close at 78,499.17. Meanwhile, NIFTY50 ended at 24,570.65, down by 65.35 points or 0.27%.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Bajaj Finance weighed down the NIFTY50 index, closing 5.84% lower.

It was followed by Bajaj Finserv (-3.70%), Trent (-3.54%), ICICI Bank (-2.50%) and Jio Financial Services (-2.39%), which were among the top losers on Friday.

On the other hand, the top gainers included Grasim Industries (3.52%), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (3.36%), Hindalco Industries (3.17%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.83%) and HCL Technologies (1.62%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge advanced 0.22% or 136.75 points to close at 63,463.55 on August 7.

The index was supported by Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (4.96%), Aurobindo Pharma (4.35%), Fortis Healthcare (3.82%), Hero MotoCorp (3.14%) and Exide Industries (3.12%), which were among the top winners.

On the flip side, the top laggards were Blue Star (-3.63%), Aditya Birla Capital (-3.19%), Swiggy (-2.74%), L&T Finance (-2.73%) and Biocon (-2.35%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index edged lower by 0.05% or 10.45 points to end at 19,867.80.

Its top losers included Jyoti CNC Automation (-9.95%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (-7.43%), Navin Fluorine International (-4.86%), Firstsource Solutions (-4.75%) and Capri Global Capital (-4.18%).

On the contrary, Devyani International (8.99%), Tata Technologies (8.92%), Neuland Laboratories (6.37%), Physicswallah (4.39%) and BEML (4.05%) were among the top gainers.

Shares of BEML advanced as its consolidated net loss narrowed to ₹27.01 crore in the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27), compared to a loss of ₹64.11 crore a year back. Its revenue from operations increased 29.28% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹819.62 crore.
