Top gainers and losers, April 22: HCLTech plunges 11%, Infosys, M&M decline 3%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in the negative territory on Wednesday, April 22, amid weak global cues, geopolitical uncertainty, and a sell-off in NIFTY IT.

The SENSEX declined as much as 1.05% to touch an intraday low of 78,442.30. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 fell as much as 0.91% and reached the session’s low of 24,352.90.

On April 22, the NIFTY 50 fell by 198.50 points or 0.81% to close at 24,378.10. The SENSEX plunged 756.84 points or 0.95% to end at 78,516.49.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

HCL Technologies dragged the NIFTY50 index, plunging 10.74%, as it reported a 4.20% YoY rise in consolidated net profit to ₹4,488 crore for the January-March quarter of FY26 (Q3 FY26), even as the management flagged a highly volatile demand environment shadowed by tariffs and softened discretionary spends, giving an FY27 growth guidance of 1-4%.

It had reported a consolidated net profit of ₹4,307 crore in the same period of FY25. Its revenue from operations rose 12.34% to ₹33,981 crore in Q4 FY26, up from ₹30,246 crore seen in Q4 FY25. The management commentary and the FY27 revenue guidance dented investor sentiment.

It was followed by Infosys (-3.38%), Mahindra & Mahindra (-3%), Tata Consultancy Services (-2.88%) and Tech Mahindra (-2.50%), which were among the top losers on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the top gainers include Tata Consumer Products (3.33%), Hindustan Unilever (2.39%), NTPC (2.26%), Tata Motors PV (1.74%) and Hindalco Industries (1.65%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge advanced by 0.19% or 114.90 points to close at 60,201.60 on April 22.

The index’s top winners comprised Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) (9.18%), Exide Industries (6.44%), Tube Investments of India (4.81%), Jubilant Foodworks (3.91%) and Swiggy (3.68%).

On the flip side, Tata Elxsi (-6.42%), Persistent (-4.88%), 360 ONE WAM (-4.81%), Coforge (-4.24%) and MphasiS (-3.02%) were among the top laggards.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended at 16,928.90, up by 198.85 points or 1.13%.

Its top gainers included Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (16.96%), Data Patterns (8.89%), Piramal Finance (8.52%), Urban Company (7.59%) and Reliance Power (6.70%).

On the contrary, Zensar Technologies (-3.74%), CDSL (-2.87%), Firstsource Solutions (-2.76%) and Delhivery (-1.94%) were among the other top losers.
