Tata Motors stock on Friday was trading close to its 52-week low of ₹717.70 apiece, which it reached on December 23, 2024. The company’s shares ended 2.54% down at ₹733.4 apiece on the NSE on January 24.
The market capitalisation of Tata Motors, a homegrown car manufacturer with one of the largest market shares in India, fell to ₹2,69,973.70 crore. The broader market also closed in the red today.
The stock ended at ₹752.50 per share on the NSE on Thursday. The traded volume for the stock stands at 95.13 lakh, and the traded value is at 704.64 crore on the NSE. Experts have given neutral to positive ratings to the stock.
While the automobile company has yet to announce its financial results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year (Q3 FY25), it reported an 11% year-on-year (YoY) decline in consolidated net profit for Q2 FY25 to ₹3,343 crore, down from ₹3,764 crore in the year-ago period. Tata Motors’ revenue also saw a decline of 3.5% YoY for the second quarter at ₹1.01 lakh crore as against ₹1.05 lakh crore in Q2 FY24.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Tata Motors’ wholly owned subsidiary, posted a 3% year-over-year (YoY) increase in its wholesale volumes to 104,427 units in the third quarter of FY25. The company posted a 3% YoY drop in its retail sales to 1,06,334 units. Retail sales for the financial year to date were 320,622, up 1% as compared to the year-ago period.
"Wholesale volumes of 104,427 units in the third quarter of FY25 (excluding the Chery Jaguar Land Rover China JV) were up 3% compared to the same quarter a year ago and up 20% compared to the prior quarter ended 30 September 2024," Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing.
