Stocks to Watch: The domestic equity market is expected to open in the red on Thursday, September 25. The GIFT NIFTY futures suggest that the NIFTY50 index will open 39 points lower.
Here is a list of stocks that may remain in focus today.
Shipping stocks: Shares of companies such as Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), GE Shipping, and Mazagon Dock, among others, will be in focus. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a ₹69,725 crore package to revitalise India’s shipbuilding and reduce dependence on foreign ships as part of the government's plan to regain the country's maritime power.

According to an official statement, the package introduces a four-pillar approach designed to strengthen domestic capacity, improve long-term financing, promote greenfield and brownfield shipyard development, enhance technical capabilities and skilling, and implement legal, taxation, and policy reforms to create a robust maritime infrastructure.

Under the package, the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme (SBFAS) will be extended until March 31, 2036, with a total corpus of Rs 24,736 crore.

Glenmark Pharma: Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on Wednesday, September 24, said that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Glenmark Speciality SA, inked an exclusive licence and collaboration pact with China’s Hengrui Pharma.

The deal was signed for the development and commercialisation of trastuzumab rezetecan, which is a drug aimed at treating different types of cancer. It is a next-generation antibody drug conjugate (ADC), Glenmark Pharma said in a regulatory filing.

Akzo Nobel India: Shares of Akzo Nobel India, the Indian subsidiary of the global AkzoNobel group, a leading paint and coatings company, are expected to remain in focus on Thursday, September 24, as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and other entities bought a 5% stake in the Dutch paint maker for nearly ₹765 crore on Wednesday.

Citigroup Global Markets Mauritius, Nippon India Mutual Fund (MF), Edelweiss Life Insurance Company, Ward Ferry Management, Societe Generale, Dublin-based Mediolanum International Funds and BNP Paribas Financial Markets are among the entities that have bought stakes in Akzo Nobel India, as per block deal data on the NSE.

Shriram Finance, Muthoot Finance, and other NBFCs: NBFC (non-banking financial companies) stocks such as Shriram Finance, Bajaj Finance, Manappuram Finance, and Muthoot Finance, among others, are expected to trade actively on Thursday, September 25, following a positive report by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

An RBI bulletin said on Wednesday the prospects for NBFCs in segments like vehicle loans and loans against gold appear robust, buoyed by improvements in vehicle sales and rising gold prices.

Observing that NBFCs play a vital role in India's economic growth, it said these institutions, by providing finance for infrastructure, vehicles, housing, and consumer goods, improve aggregate demand, create jobs, and contribute to economic expansion.

L&T, Bharat Electronics: Shares of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Electronics (BEL) are expected to hog the limelight on Thursday, September 25. This is because the companies on Wednesday announced a strategic partnership to support the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme of the Indian Air Force.

The consortium will participate in the Expression of Interest notice issued by the Government of India’s (GoI) Aeronautical Development Agency by way of submitting a response in the coming weeks, the press release said.

The partnership, the press release added, will leverage L&T’s expertise in developing strategic defence and aerospace platforms, along with BEL’s experience in defence electronics and systems, to jointly contribute to India’s 5th-generation fighter aircraft.

Crisil: Crisil, an S&P Global Company, announced the acquisition of McKinsey PriceMetrix Co. (PriceMetrix), a leading provider of performance benchmarking and data-driven insights for the wealth management industry.

PriceMetrix, based in Toronto, serves leading wealth management firms in the US and Canada.

Its proprietary database covers $8 trillion in assets under management and 30 million investment accounts, backed by 25 years of data, rating agency Crisil said in a statement.

The acquisition includes key products such as ValueOne, FeeCheck, CommissionCheck, SignalOne, advisory services, and comprehensive surveys of the North American wealth management sector, it said.

Lupin: Pharma major Lupin Ltd on Wednesday said it has received tentative approval from the US health regulator for its generic version of Bictegravir, Emtricitabine, and Tenofovir Alafenamide tablets used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.

The approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) is for the abbreviated new drug application for Bictegravir, Emtricitabine, and Tenofovir Alafenamide tablets of strength 50 mg/200 mg/25 mg, Lupin said in a regulatory filing.

This product would be manufactured at Lupin's Nagpur facility, it added.

Birla Corporation: The company said that the Government of Telangana, Department of Mines & Geology, has declared RCCPL Private Limited, a wholly owned material subsidiary of the company, as the preferred bidder in the auction of the Kanpa-Junapani Limestone Block.
IPCA Laboratories: The pharma company said it has signed a definitive technology transfer and joint development agreement with BioSimilar Sciences PR LLC (BSS), USA, for a next-generation monoclonal antibody biosimilar targeting cancer and autoimmune diseases.

As per the agreement, the company will transfer late-stage development, clinical manufacturing, and commercial supply of the biosimilar from Ipca to BSS' 200,000 square feet sterile campus at OcyonBio in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

REC Ltd: State-owned REC on Wednesday said its arm has transferred Davanagere Power Transmission, a project special purpose vehicle (SPV), to Power Grid Corporation of India.

POWERGRID emerged as the top bidder as the transmission service provider through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process conducted by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), the bid process coordinator, for development of the transmission project on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis, according to a statement.

RECPDCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, the Maharatna CPSU under the Power Ministry and an NBFC, handed over a project-specific SPV of the ISTS Transmission Project under the TBCB route, viz., Davanagere Power Transmission Ltd, to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd on Wednesday.

The implementation period of the project is 24 months.

Polycab India: Shares of Polycab India will be in focus as, according to news reports, the promoter and promoter group family members of the leading wire and cable manufacturer have launched a block trade to offload a small minority stake and raise around $100 million or ₹887 crore.
"The promoter group family members are looking to dilute around 0.8 per cent stake," Moneycontrol reported.
Newgen Software Technologies: The company on Wednesday said its UK-based wholly owned subsidiary, Newgen Software Technologies (UK) Limited, received an order worth 4.22 million euro from Tata Consultancy Services N.V., Belgium.

The company’s arm executed the master service agreement with TCS’s wholly owned subsidiary for cloud hosting, software license, and implementation services for the end customer, Newgen Software said in a regulatory filing.

Under the five-year-long agreement, Newgen Software will provide a modernised cloud-based enterprise records management platform, it added.
