"Gold loan is safe lending for banks...it is not a consumption loan, but mostly it is income-generating and also helps small businesses to grow. Last year, we saw very significant growth of 30% in the segment due to a jump in gold prices. It will be slower this year as there is a 30% decline in gold prices," Indian Bank MD and CEO Binod Kumar told PTI in an interaction.
This growth would come from tonnage, he said, adding that the gold loan segment is likely to grow about 20%.
Currently, the gold loan portfolio is around ₹1.25 lakh crore, and the book should exceed ₹1.5 lakh crore during this financial year at the anticipated growth rate, he said.

The Preferential Issue and Allotment Committee approved the allotment on August 21, following the extraordinary general meeting nod on July 31 and in-principle approvals from the NSE and BSE dated July 27, besides a Securities Appellate Tribunal order dated August 14, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Details of the buyers of Shadowfax Technologies' shares could not be ascertained on the exchange. ** Caplin Point Laboratories**: The pharma company said the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) conducted an unannounced inspection of Caplin Steriles’ injectable and ophthalmic manufacturing facility located at Gummidipoondi.
The inspection was conducted between August 13, 2026, and August 21, 2026. At the end of the inspection, the Company received Form 483 with 10 observations.
The observations are procedural in nature and do not pertain to data integrity, and none of them were repeat observations, it said.
Auro Peptides Ltd is a subsidiary/business arm of the company.
Aurobindo Pharma added that the inspection concluded with one observation, relating to facility and equipment maintenance. This observation does not pertain to data integrity or related GMP compliance.
"Upon conclusion of the inspection, the company has been issued a Form 483 with 4 (Four) observations. The company believes that the observations are procedural in nature and is confident of addressing these observations comprehensively within stipulated timelines," it added.
