Stock market today: The equity headline indices were trading with decent gains at noon on Thursday, March 20.

At 11:59 AM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was trading at 75,934.79, up 485.74 points, or 0.64%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index was trading at 23,064.60, up 157 points, or 0.69%.

In the broader market, the NIFTY MIDCAP 100 index was trading 0.55% higher, while the NIFTY SMALLCAP 100 index was trading 0.53% higher.

Here is a list of stocks that are buzzing in today's trade.
KEI Industries, Polycab, and other cable stocks: Shares of companies in the cable and wire (C&W) segment, such as Polycab India, KEI Industries, Finolex Cables, Havells, and R R Kabel, among others, witnessed a sharp decline on Thursday, March 20.

The stocks fell as, in an exchange filing on Wednesday, Adani Enterprises said that Kutch Copper Limited (“KCL”), its wholly owned subsidiary, has completed the incorporation process of a joint venture company, namely “Praneetha Ecocables Limited” (“PEL”), on March 19, 2025, with Praneetha Ventures Private Limited. KCL shall hold 50% equity share capital of PEL.

Following the announcement, Polycab India shares slipped as much as 7.8% to ₹5,015.60 apiece on the BSE; Finolex Cables slipped around 2% to ₹852.95. KEI Industries shares slipped as much as 14.5% to ₹3067.95 apiece on the BSE, while Havells India was trading over 3% lower at ₹1,508.80 on the BSE.

Paytm: Shares of Paytm parent firm One 97 Communications tumbled over 5% on Thursday, a day after its arm got the nod from the market regulator for research analysis.
Besides, global broking firm Jefferies on Thursday shared its outlook for the fintech company. The broking firm suggested a few roadblocks that could hinder the growth prospects of Paytm. READ MORE

Barring Persistent Systems, all constituents of the NIFTY IT index were trading in the green. The NIFTY IT index was trading 1.57% higher.

Shipping Corporation of India: Shares were trading around 13% higher at ₹178.05 apiece on the BSE.
KEC International: The stock was trading 10.62% higher at ₹846.15 on the BSE. Last week, the company received new orders of ₹1,267 crore.
Paras Defence: The stock of Paras Defence and Space Technologies rose as much as 10% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,046.95 on the BSE after the company informed exchanges that it received an order worth ₹142.31 crore.
The company added that the order has to be executed within 24 months. The company's total order book in June last year stood at ₹600 crore, and the company expects it to rise to ₹2,500 crore, CNBC TV18 reported.
Rajesh Exports: The company, in its filing to stock exchanges, said that on February 18, one of its promoters had acquired 3.33 crore shares of Rajesh Exports Limited in the transfer of shares between promoters and immediate relatives. The aggregate holding of the promoters before and after the inter se transaction remains the same.
