The equity benchmark indices opened positive in the morning trade on Thursday, February 6. But gave up gains within an hour.

At 10 AM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was trading at 78,104.13 levels, up 167.15 points or 0.21%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index was trading at 23,638.10, rising 58.20 points, or 0.25%.

As many as 29 stocks on the NIFTY50 index were trading in the green and 21 in the red.

The top five gainers on the index were BPCL, Power Grid, Hero MotorCorp, Bajaj Finance and Tata Motors.

The top five losers were Apollo Hospital, Shriram Finance, Trent, Titan and ITC.

Globally, the US markets ended with gains and with all three major stock indices closing in positive territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 317.24 points, or 0.71%, to 44,873.28, the S&P 500 rose 23.60 points, or 0.39%, to 6,061.48 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 38.32 points, or 0.19%, to 19,692.33.

However, the Asian markets remained mixed on Monday morning as Japan’s Nikkei rose 56 points, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 39.31 points, and Korea’s Kospi index increased 18.51 points.

Earnings today: A total of 156 companies will release their financial results for the third quarter of the current fiscal on Thursday, February 6. Key earnings to watch include ITC, State Bank of India, Trent, MRF, Bharti Airtel, Britannia Industries, Hero Motocorp, Apollo Tyres, Aurobindo Pharma, BEML, Trent, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, PVR INOX and more.

Swiggy: Shares of food and grocery delivery giant Swiggy were trading in the negative territory on Thursday after the company released its financial results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year.

In the early trade, the stock was down 4.14% to ₹400.75 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Swiggy’s revenue from operations increased by 18.1% on a sequential basis, up from ₹3,01.45 crore posted in Q2 FY25. Swiggy reported a net loss of ₹799 crore for the October-December quarter of Q3 FY25 as against ₹574 crore posted in the year-ago quarter. The company posted a net loss of ₹625.5 crore in the previous quarter (Q2 FY25).

EBITDA loss for the reporting quarter was at ₹725.66 crore, up from ₹554.17 crore in Q2 FY25.

Revenue of Swiggy Instamart (quick commerce segment of the company) increased by 17.7% QoQ to ₹576.50 crore as against ₹490 crore in the previous quarter. Swiggy's food delivery business revenue was at ₹1,636.8 crore, up 3.8% QoQ from ₹1,577.47 crore in Q2 FY25. Read more

Info Edge: Naukri’s parent entity, Info Edge, reported a 61% YoY rise in consolidated net profit at about ₹242.6 crore for quarter ended December 2024, and the board also approved split of shares in the ratio of 1:5.

The share split is aimed at enhancing the liquidity of company's equity shares and encouraging participation of retail investors by making shares of the company more affordable, according to a statutory filing by Info Edge. Read more
