RVNL shares rise nearly 2% after emerging as lowest bidder for Southern Railway project

The surge in the share price comes after the company announced that it has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a project awarded by Southern Railway.

The project covers the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of Scott-connected traction substations. It also includes power quality compensating equipment with associated switching posts (SP/SSP) for a 2x25 kV autotransformer feeding system, as well as SCADA and an Automatic Fault Locator (AFL) for the Jolarpettai Junction - Salem Junction (JTJ–SA) section, as per the exchange filing.

The order is worth ₹145.34 crore, inclusive of taxes and is set for completion within 540 days. It is aimed at supporting a 3,000 MT loading target.

This became the company’s second order in one month, after winning a ₹169.48 crore contract from West Central Railway on September 10. The order is for designing, supplying, installing, testing and starting a 220/132kV/2×25 kV Scott-connected traction substation with switching posts. The contract is valued at ₹169.48 crore and must be completed within 540 days.

Shares of RVNL were trading 0.40% higher at ₹360.35 apiece on the NSE at 10:07 AM. The stock opened at ₹362, up from the previous close of ₹358.90.

Over the last five trading sessions, RVNL shares gained 0.50% and advanced 12.33% over the past month. The scrip declined 2.83% over the past six months, while it fell 15.66% on a year-to-date basis.

The stock touched its 52-week high of ₹544 on September 23, 2024 and its 52-week low of ₹301.60 on September 1, 2025. The company’s market capitalisation stands at ₹75,217.10 crore as recorded on September 23.
