Shares of state-run Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) gained around 3% to an intraday high of ₹420.85 apiece on NSE on Thursday, June 27, after a joint venture of the company bagged ₹156 crore contract from Southern Railway. The JV has received the letter of acceptance for the contract work.

In an exchange filing, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited said the work pertains to “provision of automatic signalling on Ernakulam JN (ERS) - Vallattol Nagar (VTK) section on B-Route of Thiruvananthapuram Division in Southern Railway”. The time period by which the project is expected to be completed is 750 days.

The contract has been awarded to a joint venture between Rail Vikas Nigam Limited and KRDCL, with RVNL holding a 49% stake in the entity.

On June 21, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, in a separate regulatory filing, announced that it has secured the lowest bidder status for a project under South Eastern Railway. The project, estimated to cost ₹191.53 crore, entails the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 132 KV traction substation, sectioning post, and sub-sectioning post on the Rajkhaswan-Nayagarh-Bolani section of the Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway. The completion timeline for this project is set at 18 months.

Earlier this month, on June 11, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited emerged as the lowest bidder for a project from Central Railway. According to RVNL’s statement, the work involves “OHE modification work for upgradation of existing 1 x 25 kV electric traction system to 2 x 25 kV AT feeding system in Amla-Nagpur Section in Nagpur division of Central Railway to meet 3000 MT loading target.”

The project, which has a 24-month execution period, is estimated to cost ₹138.45 crore.

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited stock closed at ₹413.90, up by 1.17% on NSE.
