Patanjali Foods was top gainer among the shares traded in the futures and options category.

Patanjali Foods shares came under buying interest after its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sanjeev Asthana said that the company continues to see healthy urban demand, while higher input costs and the rural slowdown remain key factors to watch.

“Overall, I would be less optimistic on the rural demand. But the urban demand side looks very optimistic. We are getting into the peak season right now. With the Pay Commission enthusiasm around that, these stock markets have started kind of, there's a broader sense of positivity. So, net-net, I feel the urban demand will be good, but the rural demand we'll have to be careful about,” Asthana told CNBC TV18 in an interview.

Asthana said that he expects food business to grow in range of 8-10% and added that its biscuits business is doing well and nutraceuticals segment is picking up.

"Food, within that, only the staples category is the one which could be a source of marginal concern, but that is not as such a significant part of the profit configuration, so we should be pretty much okay with that,” Asthana told CNBC TV18.

Patanjali Foods had earlier guided for 2-5% volume growth in edible oils. Asthana said the company now expects growth to be above 4%, helped by lower domestic crop availability.
