NTPC to begin commercial operations of Nokh Solar PV project in Rajasthan; check details

NTPC Ltd on Thursday, September 25, declared commercial operation of its Rajasthan-based Nokh Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project.

This comes after the company successfully commissioned 167 MW out of 245 MW capacity at the plant’s plot-1, it said in a regulatory filing.

With this, NTPC’s total installed and commercial capacity on a standalone and group basis will become 60,705 MW and 83,863 MW, respectively.

On September 24, the company’s subsidiary, THDC India Limited, also declared commercial operation of its Khurja super thermal power plant (STPP), following the successful commissioning and due approvals of the plant’s second unit.

THDC India’s total installed and commercial capacity now stands at 3,407 MW, the renewable energy firm said in a separate regulatory filing.

The commercial operation for both projects will commence from midnight of September 26, the New Delhi-headquartered renewable energy firm stated.

Shares of NTPC Ltd closed 2.13% lower at ₹340.20 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday.

In a separate filing, it stated part capacity of 9.9 MW wind out of the total installed capacity of 92.4 MW wind project in Bhuj, Gujarat, of Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited, a step-down subsidiary of its joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private, was declared on commercial operation with effect from September 24.

With the addition of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group increased to 7382.47 MW, from 7372.57 MW.

NTPC share performance

The stock surged 1.04% over the week and 1.29% over the month. The scrip advanced 0.46% over three months but declined 5.94% over six months.

On a year-to-date basis, it gained 2.25%.

While the share reached a year’s high of ₹292.80 on February 17, 2025, it touched a 52-week high of ₹448.45 apiece almost a year earlier on September 30, 2024.

NTPC Ltd has a total market capitalisation of ₹3.3 lakh crore, as of September 25, 2025, according to data on the NSE.
