NTPC Green Energy shares in focus on commissioning additional 270 MW solar capacity in Gujarat

NTPC Green Energy share price: The shares of the renewable energy arm of NTPC, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) will be in the spotlight on Wednesday, March 11.

This comes as it commissioned the third part capacity of 270 MW out of 1200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project located in Gujarat of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NGEL.

In a regulatory filing dated March 10, the New-Delhi headquartered company added that the additional capacity was “declared on commercial operations with effect from 00:00 hrs of 11.03.2026.”

It noted that while the current commercial capacity of NGEL Group stood at 9,292.68 MW, its total installed capacity would surge to 9,562.68 MW with the addition of the above mentioned capacity.

NGEL commissions additional 91.6 MW solar capacity

In a separate filing on March 9, the company had informed the exchanges that it declared commercial operations for the second part capacity of 91.6 MW out of 250 MW Solar PV Project in Andhra Pradesh with effect from February 27, 2026.

The project belongs to Ayana Kadapa Renewable Power Private Limited, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of our joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited.

NGEL share performance

The stock closed 0.47% higher at ₹86.75 per equity share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday. However, the capacity addition was announced after the market closed.

The scrip has lost more than 1% in the past week and 3% over the month. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, it has fallen 9%.

While the share hit a 52-week high of ₹117.64 on May 22, 2025, it touched a year’s low of ₹84 per unit on March 2, 2026.

NGEL Q3 results

It posted a 73% year-on-year (YoY) fall in its net profit to ₹17.5 crore for the December quarter FY26, compared to ₹65.6 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Its revenue from operations soared 29.4% YoY to ₹653.3 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹505 crore reported in the third quarter of FY25.
