Asian shares were trading higher on Tuesday as Japan's Nikkei rose 1%, China's Shanghai Composite index advanced 0.1%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.3% and South Korea's KOSPI gained 0.1%.
US stocks ended lower on Monday on rising expectations of a rate hike by the US Federal Reserve at its rate setting meeting due later this week.
Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.3%, S&P 500 index declined 0.% and tech heavy Nasdaq index dropped 0.6%.
The consumer price index rose a seasonally adjusted 0.4% for the month, putting the 12-month increase at 3.4%, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. Both readings were in line with the Dow Jones consensus, CNBC reported.
Odds for a hike jumped to 93.5%, according to the CME Group’s FedWatch tracker of fed funds futures prices.

FIIs have so far this month sold shares worth ₹13,138 crore taking the total quantum of selling to ₹2,37,579 crore for 2026, data from NSDL showed.
