As many as 31 securities hit their 52-week high levels on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on Thursday, January 9, while 45 stocks traded at their 52-week lows as the broader markets traded in the red.

As of 12:05 pm, the NIFTY 50 index was trading at 23,551.55, down 137.40 points, or 0.58%. The BSE SENSEX, meanwhile, was trading 444.62 points, or 0.57%, lower at 77,703.87.

The volatility index, or India VIX, inched up 1.3% to 14.66. All the sectoral indices were trading in the red, except the NIFTY Media and FMCG indices. The Bank and Oil and Gas indices were the biggest losers, down 1 % and 1.3%, respectively.

Stocks that hit 52-week high

Navin Fluorine International Ltd (52-week high: ₹4,017.10)

Shares of Navin Fluorine International Ltd rose as much as 15% to hit a fresh 52-week high at ₹4,017.10 apiece on the NSE on Thursday after reports said that US gas distributors have raised prices for refrigerant gases.

According to reports, refrigerant gas prices could go up by 200% after IGas USA, a leading US manufacturer of refrigerant gases, has said that the supply of R32 and R125 has been impacted. The R32 and R125 refrigerant is used in air conditioning and low-temperature refrigeration systems.

PTC Industries Ltd (52-week high: ₹17,900)

Shares of PTC Industries Ltd gained as much as 4.4% on the NSE to hit their 52-week high of ₹17,900 apiece. The stock has been rising for five consecutive sessions and has gained a cumulative 30% during this period. The share price is up 48% in the past month and 149% in the last one year.

The stock is seeing an upward momentum on reports of the company substantially expanding its aerospace castings capability by making a multi-million-dollar investment in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. This production unit will come up at the newly acquired 50-acre land in the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.

Other stocks that hit 52-week high: Ashapura Minechem Ltd, Ganesh Housing Corp. Ltd, Atlas Cycles (Haryana) Ltd, Megasoft Ltd, Rama Phosphates Ltd, SRF Ltd and Vijaya Diagnostic Centre Ltd, among others.

Stocks that hit 52-week low

Mahindra Lifespace Ltd (52-week low: ₹449.05)

Shares of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd, the realty arm of the Mahindra Group, slipped 0.6% to hit their 52-week low of ₹449.05 apiece on Thursday. The stock is down more than 11% in the past month and 20% in the last one year.

Recently, the company had announced that it would halt fresh investments in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) market after exiting two cities completely – Nagpur and Hyderabad.

Bandhan Bank Ltd (52-week low: ₹150.34)

Shares of Bandhan Bank Ltd were down 0.9% to hit a fresh 52-week low of ₹150.34 apiece on the NSE on Thursday. The stock is down nearly 14% in the last one month and 36% in the past year.

The bank was in the news earlier this week after its chief technology officer (CTO) Manoj Kumar Mauni resigned from his position with immediate effect. Having served in this role since June 2021, Mauni was spearheading the bank’s IT transformation, overseeing the development and enhancement of the bank’s tech infrastructure.
