Stock market today: The domestic equity market was trading in negative territory in the afternoon deals on Thursday, December 12.
At 12:41 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was trading at 81,348.70, down 177 points, or 0.22%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index ended at 24,573.60, down 68 points, or 0.28%.

Star Cement: Shares gained as much as 13.18% to ₹227.50 apiece on the BSE.
Earlier this month,
Star Cement said it plans to expand its capacity by an additional two million tonnes through a greenfield project in Assam's Silchar at a cost of ₹400 crore.
The expansion is expected to be completed within the next two years, the firm said.
PC Jeweller: Shares gained up to 3.16% to ₹184 apiece on the BSE as the company announced it issued shares on a private placement basis to a consortium of lenders to settle part of its outstanding debts.
After the allotment of shares, the promoters and promoter group of the company will hold 25,40,62,568 shares of the company, equivalent to 42.93%, while non-promoters will hold 33,77,36,662 shares, equivalent to 57.07%.
Vedanta: Shares of the company hit an all-time high of ₹526.50 apiece on the BSE. The company's board will meet on December 16 to consider the payment of the fourth interim dividend on equity shares, if any, for the financial year 2024-25.
Last seen, the stock was trading at ₹520.15 on the BSE, up 1.18%.
Waaree Energies: Waaree Energies share price saw a jump of 8.63% to ₹3,448 on Thursday after the renewable energy firm's subsidiary won an order to develop a 170 MW solar power plant.
The solar power plant will enable the generation and transmission of clean energy via the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). The project will supply renewable energy to Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd and Indian Railways, thus contributing significantly to India’s renewable energy goals.
Acme Solar Holdings:
Acme Solar Holdings has successfully secured a 250 MW Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in the e-reverse auction held by NHPC on December 10, 2024, at a tariff of ₹4.56 per unit.
The stock was trading nearly 2% higher at ₹273.05 on the BSE.
Nuvama Wealth: Nuvama Wealth Management shares dropped up to 6.33% to ₹6835 apiece on the BSE as its shares worth ₹2,100 crore changed hands in block deals.
The details of the buyers and the sellers in the block deal were not known immediately. However, reports suggested that two Edelweiss group entities—Ecap Equities and Edel Finance Company—sold over 30 lakh shares, representing around 8.4% of equity stake, of Nuvama Wealth in block deals on Thursday.
The reports mentioned that the average selling price was ₹7,025 per share, around a 4% discount to Wednesday’s close of ₹7,297.35 on the NSE.
Reliance Power: Shares of Reliance Power rallied as much as 5% to ₹46.24 apiece on the BSE on Thursday, December 12, as the company on Wednesday said that its arm, Reliance NU Suntech, has won the country's single largest 930 MW solar project with a 1,860 MWh battery energy storage system from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The subsidiary has secured the solar with storage project in an e-reverse auction held by SECI on Monday, parent Reliance Power said in a statement.
Bajaj Housing Finance: Shares of Bajaj Housing Finance, the subsidiary of Bajaj Finance, slipped as much as 6% to ₹132.85 apiece on the BSE on Thursday, December 12, as the three-month shareholder lock-in period for anchor investors ends today. Up to 12.6 crore shares, or around 2% of the total equity in the firm, will be freed up for trade.
The initial public offering (IPO) of
Bajaj Housing Finance, which was launched in September, was a blockbuster hit as the issue received a bumper demand from investors.
Adani Green: Shares were trading around 7% higher at ₹1,227.05 apiece on the BSE. The stock rallied after the company informed exchanges that Adani Green Energy Twenty Five Limited, a step-down subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Limited ("AGEL"), has commissioned a 250 MW solar power project at Badi Sid, District: Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
With the commissioning of this plant, AGEL’s total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 11,434 MW.
NALCO: The stock was trading 6.63% lower at ₹233.05 on the BSE amid a decline in most metal stocks. The BSE METAL index was trading at 31,815.87 levels, down 0.63%.
Neuland Labs: The stock was trading 4.71% lower at ₹16,150 on the BSE after a block deal worth ₹780.30 crore took place, with Smallcap World Fund being the likely seller.
Around 4.9 lakh shares, or a 3.8% stake in Neuland Labs, changed hands at an average price of ₹15,900 per share, an over 6% discount from Wednesday's close, as per news reports.
MTNL: The telecom stock was trading over 7.5% higher at ₹58.51 on the NSE. The stock rallied even as the company said it cannot pay the eighth semiannual interest for the 6.85% MTNL Bond Series VI due on December 21.
