The insurance behemoth is expected to announce its financial results for the said quarter as well as the full fiscal year (FY25) after market hours, i.e., 3:30 PM today.
In March 2025, the state-owned insurance company said it was in advanced stages of negotiation to buy a 'substantial' stake in a standalone health insurer to broaden its footprint in that segment.
"The execution and ultimate consummation of the deal are subject to various factors, including approval of the board of directors of the corporation, regulatory approvals and other approvals, if any, before executing any binding agreements. There can be no guarantee or assurance of the execution/consummation of the potential deal," the exchange notification said.
This historic achievement, verified by Guinness World Records, recognises the extraordinary performance of the corporation's dedicated agency network on January 20, 2025, LIC said in a statement.
On January 20, a total of 4,52,839 agents of LIC successfully completed and issued an astounding 5,88,107 life insurance policies across India, it noted.
This monumental effort established a new global benchmark for agent productivity in the life insurance industry within 24 hours, it said.
LIC bought about a 2.026% stake in public sector BoI between September 2, 2021, and May 9, 2025, BoI said in a stock exchange disclosure on Tuesday.
LIC's stake in the bank has increased from 6.35% to 8.38% over the four-year period.
The industry had collected ₹3.77 lakh crore in the preceding financial year, according to Life Insurance Council data.
The individual new business premium rose to ₹1.66 lakh crore as compared to ₹1.49 lakh crore a year ago, registering a growth of 11%.
LIC garnered ₹2.26 lakh crore in total new business premium for FY25, which included ₹62,404.58 crore from individual new business.
State-owned insurer LIC reported a 17% jump in net profit at ₹11,056 crore for the third quarter ended December 2024 (Q3 FY25).
The country's biggest insurer, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), had earned a net profit of ₹9,444 crore in the year-ago period.
However, the net premium income of the insurer moderated to ₹1,06,891 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal year from ₹1,17,017 crore in the same period a year ago, LIC said in a regulatory filing.
The total income also came down to ₹2,01,994 crore in the latest December quarter compared to ₹2,12,447 crore logged in the year-ago period.
Since listing, LIC has declared dividends four times.
