L&T secures major order for BESS project in Middle East; total orderbook crosses ₹8 lakh crore mark

SUMMARY

This is one second consecutive order win this week and the third consecutive in the past five days. The company won an ultra mega order worth more than ₹15,000 crore for its hydrocarbon division from a prestigious client in the Middle East.

L&T share price bounced back from intraday lows on Tuesday after the company announced a major order win through exchange filing on Tuesday 9:34 am. The shares hovered near ₹4,086 apiece on the NSE at 10:00 am.

The company’s exchange filing read, “The Renewables business vertical of L&T has won a major order to develop three Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects for a notable client in the Middle East. In addition to the storage facilities, the scope of the packages also involves grid interconnections, including pooling substations and underground cables”.

In addition to this, the company also said, the three projects will collectively contribute to 6 gigawatt-hour of storage capacity, marking one of the most impactful advancements in grid modernisation and renewable energy integration across the Middle East region. This positions L&T as a key EPC player in the fast‑growing energy storage sector. The order value stands at approximately ₹10,000 crore.

This is one second consecutive order win this week and the third consecutive in the past five days. The company won an ultramega order worth more than ₹15,000 crore for its hydrocarbon division from a prestigious client in the Middle East. The project involves the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of gas compression plants, comprising gas inlet facilities, gas compression systems, condensate and produced water handling systems, propane refrigeration systems and all associated utilities.Similarly, the company won another large order worth ₹2000- ₹5000 crore order for an automated people mover system at Dubai’s Al Maktoum Airport.

L&T’s current order book

The company won approximately ₹30,000 crore worth order book in five days, crossing its total order book above ₹8,00,000 crore as of August 25. As of Q1FY27, the company’s order book stood at ₹7.79 lakh crore, up 27% YoY. Out of which, ₹4.0 lakh crore worth of order book came from international orders and ₹3.7 lakh crore worth of order book came from domestic orders.

L&T share price performance

Despite robust order wins in the quarter ended June 2026 and the latest order wins in past few days, the shares showed a muted response to the developments. On a YTD basis, the shares have delivered -1.4% returns in 2026.
