KPIT Technologies stock plunges 8% post Q1 FY27 earnings; Goldman Sachs and other analysts share insights

Q1 impact on shares: KPIT Technologies shares declined as much as 8% to touch an intraday low of ₹587.50 apiece on Thursday, July 30, a day after the software company reported mostly in line earnings.

The company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹117 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), declining 28% sequentially from ₹163 crore in Q1 FY26.

The company’s revenue from operations slipped 2% on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis to ₹1,675 crore during the quarter under review, compared to ₹1,711 crore in the March quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q4 FY26).

In constant currency (CC) terms, the revenue declined 3.6% on a QoQ basis. In dollar terms, the Q1 FY27 revenue stood at $176.8 million.

The Pune-headquartered software company, in an investors' presentation, highlighted decent growth in the US geography, along with progress in its after-sales and vehicle engineering and design practices. It also noted healthy traction in its products and solutions segment.

On the operational level, KPIT’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at ₹272 crore in Q1 FY27 as against ₹311 crore seen in the Q4 FY26, marking a drop of 13%.

The company’s EBITDA margin contracted sequentially to 16.21% as compared to 18.18% in Q4 FY26.

Here’s what analysts said post earnings

Goldman Sachs noted that KPIT reported an in-line performance for the quarter, with revenue and EBITDA coming in at +3% and -4% versus its estimates, respectively. On a year-on-year basis, revenue grew 9%, while EBITDA declined 11%, reflecting continued pressure on margins despite steady topline growth.

The analysts highlighted that KPIT is actively working to offset the current softness in demand from its core European and Japanese client base. The company is focusing on diversifying its passenger vehicle OEM exposure beyond its historical concentration on the top 25 customers, expanding its presence in the off-highway and commercial vehicle segments, and increasing its emphasis on product and solutions integration for clients.

Analysts from HSBC said KPIT’s Q1 FY27 revenue performance was largely in line with the company’s outlook shared at the end of the quarter. They noted that deal wins during the quarter and the overall pipeline remain satisfactory, with management indicating expectations of a return to strong growth in the second half of FY27.

Outlook

KPIT Tech said that its Q1 FY27 EBITDA margins were impacted due to revenue reduction. It expects margins to improve successively hereafter every quarter, aided by revenue mix and growth and AI-led productivity gains.

The software company’ management further stated that robust cash conversion continued in Q1 FY27. The firm reported a net cash position of ₹900 crore, compared to ₹960 crore in the previous quarter.

The management also said that it closed engagements worth $257 million in Q1 FY27, reflecting healthy deal wins during the quarter. They added that its pipeline continues to be satisfactory, with healthy growth in the products and solutions pipeline, and also highlighted a small but strategic win with an Indian OEM.

KPIT Tech share price trends

At 11:50 AM, KPIT Tech shares were trading at ₹589.45 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, tumbling 7.72%.

From the beginning of the year, KPIT Tech shares have declined 49%. Over a month’s time, the stock has tanked 12%.

Shares of the firm had hit a 52-week high of ₹1,328 on September 18, 2025, and a 52-week low of ₹543 on July 15, 2026.

According to NSE data, as of July 30, 2026, KPIT Tech has a total market capitalisation of ₹16,163.52 crore.
