The rolling stock and mobility solutions company received an order from the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) for the manufacture and supply of 2,583 wagons worth ₹1,140 crore, including taxes. The 2,583 wagons comprise BOXNHL and BOXNS wagons.

“The receipt of this order further reinforces the company's position as a key player in the railway rolling stock manufacturing sector and reflects its continued contribution towards meeting the Indian Railways’ rolling stock requirements,” said Jupiter Wagons.

The firm in a regulatory filing said that the order supports the Government of India’s objective of raising the railways’ share of freight movement under the National Rail Plan. Large-scale wagon procurement, together with the Dedicated Freight Corridors and PM Gati Shakti, is central to building a faster, more efficient and self-reliant freight network for the country.

“Indian Railways is adding freight capacity at a scale and pace this country has not seen before, and this order reflects the Ministry’s continued confidence in our ability to deliver. Over the years, we have integrated backward across the wagon value chain, from castings and bogies to couplers and brake systems, and we are now extending this to wheelsets through our facility in Odisha. That gives us greater control over cost, quality and delivery timelines,” said Vivek Lohia, Managing Director, Jupiter Wagons.

Alongside its Indian Railways business, Jupiter Wagons said its private sector order book remains strong, supported by steady demand from private freight operators, wagon leasing companies and core sector customers.

This balance between government and private demand continues to give the company a diversified and resilient order pipeline. Building on the present award, the company expects incremental order inflows of approximately ₹2,000 crore in Q4 FY27.

The sector’s near-term demand outlook is further strengthened by the Ministry of Railways' recently released tender for the procurement of 5,800 BOBRN wagons.

“Our private sector order book remains strong, and we expect to add around INR 2,000 crore of incremental orders next quarter, giving us healthy visibility. We are ready to execute with the discipline this programme demands as India moves a greater share of its freight by rail on the path to Viksit Bharat 2047,” said Lohia.
