IRCTC shares tumble 3% as Q1 profit remains flat YoY, catering revenue surges 34%; check June quarter results

IRCTC share price: Shares of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) declined as much as 2.64% to hit an intraday low of ₹500 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday, August 13, following its earnings for the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27).

The company reported mixed results, with a flat YoY decline in profit, but a surge in revenue growth. At around 11:03 AM, the stock was trading 0.95% lower at ₹508.65 per equity share, compared to the closing price of ₹513.55 per unit recorded in the previous session.

The scrip has lost more than 2% in the past week but gained 1% over the month. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, it has fallen 26%.

While the shares hit a 52-week low of ₹739 on September 19, 2025, they touched a year’s low of ₹485.30 per unit on July 28, 2026.

IRCTC Q1 results

The Navratna PSU’s consolidated net profit remained mostly flat year-on-year (YoY), down 0.2% to ₹330 crore during the quarter under review, compared with ₹331 crore in the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q1 FY26).

However, its consolidated revenue from operations jumped 18% YoY to ₹1,369.5 crore in the June quarter of FY27, as against ₹1,160 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal year, according to a regulatory filing.

At an operational level, its EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation), also known as operating profit, stood at ₹387 crore in Q1 FY27, registering a 2.7% YoY fall from ₹398 crore in the year-ago period.

Its EBITDA margin contracted by 601 basis points (bps) YoY to 28.2% for the quarter, from 34.3%.

Segment-wise revenue

The company’s revenue from the catering segment saw a 33.9% YoY surge to ₹732.26 crore for the reporting quarter, in comparison to ₹546.78 crore in Q1 FY26.
The rail neer vertical recorded revenue of ₹113.91 crore in the first quarter of FY27, marking a 3.1% YoY increase from ₹110.49 crore in the year-ago period.
IRCTC’s internet ticketing segment reported a 1% YoY rise in its revenue to ₹360.99 crore during the quarter, compared with ₹358.75 crore in the April-June quarter of FY26.
Its revenue from the tourism vertical stood at ₹168.07 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, reflecting a 13.8% YoY jump from ₹147.70 crore in the same period of FY26.

Recent update

On July 15, the IRCTC launched the beta version of its redesigned ticket booking website, weeks after Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw promised it during an interaction with college students.

The new IRCTC website features a simplified interface, fewer booking steps, and easier access to seat availability, as part of an overhaul of its online reservation platform.
