ICICI Bank sells entire 18.1% in NIIT-IFBI for ₹61.1 million to NIIT

ICICI Bank sold the entirety of its 18.1% stakeholding in NIIT-IFBI to NIIT Limited for a sum of ₹61.1 million on June 11.

The board of directors of the private sector bank had approved the transaction on April 19, 2025, it said in a regulatory filing.

NIIT-IFBI (NIIT Institute of Finance Banking and Insurance Training) ceased to be an associate of ICICI Bank, consequent to the transaction, it added.

In a separate filing, NIIT confirmed the purchase of 1.9 lakh equity shares of NIIT-IFBI from the private lender. Additionally, it bought 50,000 shares of IFBI from individual investors, which constitutes 0.49% of the issued and paid-up share capital. The total transaction value of the two purchases stood at ₹62.7 million.

“Therefore, pursuant to the aforesaid acquisition, NIIT Limited now holds 100% of the aggregate issued and paid-up share capital of IFBI and accordingly, IFBI has become a wholly owned subsidiary of NIIT Limited,” the regulatory filing added.

NIIT share performance

NIIT stock settled 2.68% lower at ₹136.03 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday, June 12.

The share gained 0.98% over the week but has been trading flat since the beginning of the month. So far into Q1FY26, the scrip has gained 10.83%. It lost 28.69% year-to-date.

NIIT Ltd’s total market capitalisation stood at ₹1,853.57 crore, as of June 12, 2025, on the NSE.

ICICI Bank stock performance

Shares of ICICI Bank closed in the red at ₹1,425.50 apiece, down 0.41%, on the NSE.

The stock lost 2.36% over the week and 1.42% since the beginning of June. However, it has surged 5.7% so far in the first quarter of FY26 and 11.20% on a year-to-date basis.

The bank reported a 18% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its net profit to ₹12,630 crore in the fourth quarter of FY25, compared to ₹10,707.53 crore in the year ago period.

ICICI Bank has a total market capitalisation of ₹10.16 lakh crore, as of June 12, 2025, on the NSE.
