Hero Motocorp's total sales rise 9% to 5.98 lakh units in March 2026; shares in focus

In a regulatory filing dated April 1, the automaker posted an 8.84% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its total dispatches (including exports), which stood at 5.98 lakh units during the month under review.

In the corresponding period of the previous year, it had dispatched 5.5 lakh units in total, Hero MotoCorp stated.

Furthermore, its retail performance also remained robust in March 2026, with 5.42 lakh VAHAN registrations, marking a 24% YoY growth, the company said, quoting data from VAHAN except Telangana, as on April 1, 2026.

Domestically, its dispatches advanced 8.23% YoY to 5.52 lakh units for the reporting month, from 5.1 lakh units in March 2025.

Its export dispatch stood at 45,693 units in the previous month, reflecting a 16% YoY from 39,518 units in the year-ago period. It recorded its highest-ever dispatch.

The segment also recorded an all-time high of about 40% dispatch growth in its global business in FY26, with strong demand for premium portfolio products across motorcycles and scooters driving growth in key international markets.

The auto manufacturer posted a 4.93% YoY increase in its motorcycle dispatch to 5.32 lakh units during the month under review, in comparison to 5.07 lakh units in March 2025.

Additionally, it dispatched 65,815 units of scooters in March 2026, up by 53.19% YoY from 42,963 units.

The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) scooter segment saw a 24% YoY growth, supported by a strengthened product portfolio and scale-up of the Glamour and Xtreme range of motorcycles.

Furthermore, the demand sentiment improved in the rural markets, aided by early festive tailwinds, Hero MotoCorp said.

Shares of Hero MotoCorp closed 1.17% higher at ₹5,122 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday. However, the monthly auto sales numbers were released after the market closed.

Hero MotoCorp has a total market capitalisation of ₹1.03 lakh crore, as of April 1, 2026, according to data on the NSE.
