GPT Infra, Coal India, Vi among buzzing stocks as SENSEX falls over 500 pts; NIFTY trades below 24,900

Buzzing stocks, NIFTY50, SENSEX

The NIFTY50 slumped as much as 1.12% to touch the session’s low of 23,786.80 on September 2.

The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, continued their downward trend during the afternoon session on Wednesday, September 2, weighed down by auto and transportation & logistics stocks and weak global cues as crude oil prices surged amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The SENSEX tumbled as much as 1.05% to hit an intraday low of 76,135.72. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 slumped as much as 1.12% to touch the session’s low of 23,786.80.

At 12:59 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX declined by 521.26 points, or 0.68%, to trade at 76,423.02, while NSE’s NIFTY50 stood at 23,871.10, reflecting a 184.70-point, or 0.77% fall.

The top losers in the index included Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), InterGlobe Aviation, and Asian Paints.

On the contrary, the top gainers were Coal India, NTPC, Adani Ports, Power Grid Corporation of India, and Adani Enterprises.

Buzzing stocks on September 2: Check list

Ice-cream stocks

Shares of ice cream companies such as Kwality Wall's, Vadilal Industries, and Milky Mist were in focus on Wednesday, September 2, as Reliance Industries (RIL) announced its foray into the ice cream market.

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of RIL, on Tuesday announced its entry into the ice cream market with the brand Bombay Creamery.

This will be backed by RCPL's national distribution infrastructure, retail scale and consumer insights, said a statement from RCPL. RCPL has claimed that the Bombay Creamery portfolio is made with real dairy cream.

Aviation stocks

Aviation stocks like IndiGo operator InterGlobe Aviation and SpiceJet continue to decline for a second consecutive day on Wednesday, September 2.

The fall in stocks comes despite the government reducing the windfall gains tax marginally on ATF for the next fortnight. The rate of special additional excise duty (SAED) on export of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has been set at ₹19 per litre, compared to ₹19.5 per litre earlier.

Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, the government had imposed an export duty on diesel and ATF on March 27 and revised the rate every fortnight.

This week, the ATF prices were increased by 5.46%, in line with a rise in their international benchmarks. The price of jet fuel, or ATF, has been raised by ₹6.28 per litre, or 5.46%, to ₹121.28 per litre for domestic airlines, according to state-owned oil firms.

Hero Motocorp

Shares of Hero MotoCorp Ltd declined as much as 6.8% to hit an intraday low of ₹5,260 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, September 2, following the release of its monthly sales report for August.

The company's total dispatches rose 2.64% year-on-year (YoY) to 5,68,398 units in August 2026, up from 5,53,727 units in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a regulatory filing.

However, its motorcycle dispatch fell 2% YoY to 4,93,851 units during the month under review, as against 5,01,523 in August 2025.

The company dispatched 74,547 units of scooters in August 2026, marking a 42.8% YoY jump from 52,204 units in the year-ago period.

Its export dispatch stood at 26,093 units, down by 24.6% YoY from 34,588 units in the same period of 2025.

Coal India

Coal India shares advanced as much as 5.18% to hit the session’s peak of ₹422.40 per unit on Wednesday, September 2, after the state-owned company on Tuesday said its total coal supplies increased 5.5% to 60.60 million tonnes (MT) in August FY 2026–27 as compared to 57.40 MT supplied during the corresponding month last year.

The company also recorded a 4.5% growth in coal supplies to the power sector during the month, reaching 48.46 MT, compared to 46.39 MT in August FY26. Coal supplies to the non-regulated sector (NRS) also registered robust growth, increasing by 9.6% to 12.12 MT in August FY27 from 11.06 MT in the same period of the last fiscal year.

Coal India’s total coal supplies during the first five months of the current financial year till August reached 322.90 MT, compared to 302.60 MT during the corresponding period of the previous year, registering a growth of 6.70%.

Vodafone Idea

The stock of Vodafone Idea (Vi) surged as much as 4.69% to hit a high of ₹14.72 per equity share on the NSE, amid a sharp sell-off in the equity market.

The debt-ridden telecom operator on Tuesday said that it has roped in Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for its new brand identity campaign.

The company, in its new logo, has moved the two-dimensional yellow dot below 'i' to the top in a three-dimensional sphere shape.

GPT Infraprojects

GPT Infraprojects shares rallied as much as 10.6% to hit the session’s peak of ₹119.13 apiece on the NSE, as it was declared the lowest (L1) bidder for an order valued at ₹483.7 crore, including GST, from RVNL.

According to a regulatory filing, the order from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) entails the “construction of Important Bridge 544 (32x65.84m) Open Web Steel Girder over river Mahanadi at Ch. 406305m in connection with construction of 3rd and 4th line between Nergundi-Baran.”

Antelopus Selan Energy

Antelopus Selan Energy stock climbed as much as 15.9% to hit an intraday high of ₹918.90 per equity share on the NSE on September 2, as the Government of India approved the award of two contract areas under the Discovered Small Field Bid Round-IV to the company.

The award was communicated by the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, vide its letter dated August 31, 2026, as per a regulatory filing.

The award is subject to execution of the Revenue Sharing Contract (RSC) between the President of India and the company, it stated.

As communicated by DGH, the bid work programme, commercial terms, area, map and coordinates forming part of the Company’s bid will be incorporated in the RSC, the company said.

Annu Projects

Shares of Annu Projects Ltd, an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) player, debuted at ₹72 apiece on the NSE on Wednesday, September 2. This reflects a discount of 27.27% to the IPO issue price of ₹99 per share. On the BSE (formerly Bombay Stock Exchange), the stock is listed at ₹75 per share, down 24.24% from the issue price.

The ₹175.06 crore IPO consisted only of a fresh issuance of 1,76,83,000 shares, with no offer for sale (OFS) component.
