The benchmark equity indices on Wednesday, March 5, bounced back and traded positive, backed by support from the broader market along with the IT and auto sectors. The surge came on the back of reports of easing trade tensions.

At 12:10 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was trading at 73,798.55, advancing 808.62 points, or 1.11%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index was at 22,357.40, rising 274.75 points, or 1.24%.

Coforge: Shares of Coforge, the midcap IT services company, surged as much as 11% to ₹8,006 apiece on the NSE on Wednesday, March 5, as the company made a flurry of announcements over the past 24 hours.
The company, as intimated earlier, announced that its board has approved the sub-division of its existing shares in the ratio of 1:5. On Tuesday, Coforge had said that it has entered into a 13-year partnership with travel technology company Sabre Corporation. The IT solutions firm also announced that it will acquire Rythmos Inc. Adani Ports: Shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) surged over 4% on Wednesday after the firm’s monthly cargo volume increased 3% on a year-on-year (YoY) basis to 35.6 MMT in February 2025.
At 11 AM, shares of the firm were trading 4.40% higher at ₹1,104.5 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. It was one of the biggest contributors on the NIFTY50 index during the morning trade. Read more
Adani Wilmar: Shares of FMCG company Adani Wilmar Ltd (AWL) rose on Wednesday after the company announced that it will acquire GD Foods Manufacturing (India) Pvt Ltd, which sells food products like ketchup, sauces and pickles under the Tops brand.

The stock climbed 5.86% to ₹253.92 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at 12:01 PM.

In a regulatory filing, Adani Wilmar, which sells edible oil and food products under the Fortune brand, said that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire GD Foods. Read more
M&M: Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) share price jumped almost 5% on Wednesday after UBS upgraded the company’s ratings.

At 11:56 AM, M&M shares were trading at ₹2,732.70 apiece on NSE, soaring 4.57%.

According to a Moneycontrol report, UBS said despite concerns of a slowdown, Mahindra & Mahindra is likely to see volumes grow 9% in the upcoming financial year, driven by strong demand for SUVs and the lineup of EV launches.

The automaker’s total sales also increased 15% year-on-year to 83,702 units in February.

SpiceJet: Low-cost carrier SpiceJet Ltd shares rose more than 5% on Wednesday morning after Plutus Wealth Management bought 90 lakh shares in a bulk deal.

The investment firm bought 9,000,000 shares at an average price of ₹46 per share. The total value of the deal is ₹41.4 crore.

The stock climbed 5.29% to ₹48.35 apiece on the BSE at 10:11 AM. Read more
Jio Financial Services: Shares of the firm jumped over 5% during the morning trade on Wednesday as it will acquire State Bank of India’s entire stake in Jio Payments Bank for ₹104.54 crore.

Jio Financial currently holds an 82.17% stake in Jio Payments Bank Limited (JPBL), a joint venture of the company and State Bank of India (SBI).

At 12:02 PM, shares of Jio Financial Services were trading 5.33% higher on the NSE at ₹217.39 apiece. Read more
BSE: Shares of India’s oldest stock exchange, BSE, traded nearly 8% lower on Wednesday morning at ₹4,085 apiece on the NSE after its peer changed the dates of its weekly and monthly derivatives expiry days to Monday.
The National Stock Exchange, or NSE, on Tuesday changed its weekly expiry days from Thursday to Monday and its monthly expiry days for NIFTY50, FIN NIFTY, NIFTY Midcap, and BANK NIFTY to the last Monday of the month. Read more
Avanti Feeds: Shares of Avanti Feeds jumped as much as 9.7% to hit their 52-week high level of ₹812 apiece on the NSE on Wednesday.

As per the block deal data, Thai Union Group on Tuesday divested a 4.4% stake in Avanti Feeds for ₹435 crore through an open market transaction.

According to the block deal data available on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Thai Union Group, through its arm Thai Union Asia Investment Holding, sold 59.77 lakh shares, amounting to a 4.4% stake in Avanti Feeds. Read more
Power Grid: State-owned Power Grid Corporation of India shares jumped over 4% on Wednesday as it secured three projects related to the setting up of inter-state power transmission systems.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been declared as the successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding for three projects to establish an interstate transmission system under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) mode. The letter of intent (LoI) for the respective projects has been received by Power Grid on March 3, the company said in a regulatory filing.

At 12:06 PM, shares of Power Grid on NSE were trading 4.31% higher at ₹264.95 apiece.

JSW Energy: The shares of JSW Energy rose as much as 4% as the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Tuesday cleared its proposal to acquire KSK Mahanadi Power Company.

In another development, the company on Tuesday said it has raised ₹1,200 crore by issuing non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis.

During the intraday trade, JSW Energy shares were trading at ₹499.20, advancing 3.73% on the NSE.

ITDC: Shares of India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC) rose more than 15% on Wednesday amid excitement over the consideration of asset monetisation of the Ashok Hotel.
The stock jumped 15.6% to ₹589 per share in the intraday trade on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). At 11:28 am, it was up 14.38% to ₹582.5 apiece. Read more
