This small-cap specialty chemicals stock surges 11%, hits 52-week high in trade; check details

Stock market live: The equity benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, were still trading in the red in the afternoon deals on Monday, February 17; however, they were off the day's lows. In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index was trading flat at 39,727.76, down 4.03 points, or 0.01%.

Meanwhile, the small-cap stocks were reeling under pressure. The BSE SmallCap index was trading at 45,025.73, down 385.52 points, or 0.85%.

Nevertheless, one of the stocks that defied the selling pressure in the small-cap segment was Camlin Fine Sciences.

Shares of Camlin Fine Sciences Ltd., formerly known as Camlin Fine Chemicals, surged as much as 10.86% to ₹151 apiece on the BSE. Camlin Fine Sciences is one of the leading integrated manufacturers of the most preferred traditional antioxidants (shelf life solutions) available.

The company focuses on four key businesses—shelf life solutions, aroma ingredients, health & wellness, and performance chemicals. Apart from offering antioxidants for the food, pet food, and animal nutrition industries, Camlin Fine Sciences also has a product basket that caters to a wide range of industries.

Camlin Fine Sciences Q3 FY25 Results

For the quarter ended December 31, 2024 (Q3 FY25), Camlin Fine Sciences reported a 12.3% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated revenue from operations to ₹433.49 crore against ₹385.89 crore registered in the year-ago period.

Adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) jumped 163.5% to ₹53.19 crore from ₹32.54 crore registered in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Adjusted EBITDA margins rallied 390 bps to 12.3% during the period under review.

The company's loss narrowed to ₹7.47 crore from ₹14.28 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Operational Revenue Breakup

Specialty Ingredients (Straights): The segment's revenue for the quarter under review dropped to ₹89 crore against ₹106.5 crore logged in the December 2023 quarter.
Specialty Ingredients (Value-added blends): The segment's revenue for the quarter under review increased to ₹225.9 crore, up 27.12% against ₹177.7 crore registered in the year-ago period.
Aroma Ingredients: The segment saw a massive growth in revenue on a YoY basis. The figure grew 808% to ₹57.2 crore.

Total Revenue Break-up

For the December 2024 quarter, Specialty Ingredients (Value Added Blends) contributed 55% of the total revenue, while Specialty Ingredients (Straights) contributed 22% of the company's total revenue. Performance Chemicals's share stood at 10%, while Aroma Ingredients contributed 14% of the total revenue.
