According to the existing norms, a stock buy or sell transaction has to involve more than 0.5% of the outstanding shares of a listed entity in a single trading day in order to qualify as a bulk deal.

In case of a block deal, the stock buy or sale transaction should hold a minimum value of ₹10 crore per trade in a single trading day. Although retail investors are not able to participate in these deals due to the size of the transactions, market investors should check the details of the bulk and block deals ahead of the opening bell.
